I have a 98 2x4 with 3.9l v6 and 32x11.50x15 Procomp Muds. I put 4.56 gears with posi lock in before I bought my tires and I dont have a problem I dont know what it would have been like with the original gears. with the 4.56's I should have 33's but I didn't want to trim that much. I am pleased the gas kind of sucks about 13mpg I use mid grade fuel. Only other mods 3" fabtech sus lift and 3" body and plugs wires cap rotor and 180 degree t-stat.

I got the pro comp all terrains 32x11.5x15. Tires are not as good in the rain as the stock good years because the compound is harder but much better on dirt roads and dry pavement. Gas mileage dropped about 1 mpg in my 4x4 and I noticed that it takes longer to shift into overdrive obviously. All City I get about 10-11mpg and all free way I get about 13 -14 mpg....pretty sucky if you ask me but barely a difference from the stock 31x10.50x15 tires.

When going up mild hills at about 55-60mph I have to lock out the overdrive because the transmission jumps back and forth between the gears to often. Once I'm up to 65 it's ok though. Driving right at 60 seems to bog the engine too much so I don't drive at that speed.. typically 65 or higher. I have the stock 3:55 gears and I have 3 inch body lift. When I get my 33 inch tires in about 2 months I'm switching to 4:10s, and getting one of those Superlift "true speed" things to get my transmission to shift at the correct points again. I was hoping to do the tuff country 5.5 lift but I'm not going to have the money. So much for 35s.

I don't have 32's but I do have 285/75/16's (33's) so I figured I'd respond. I have the stock 3.55 gears so my gas mileage has dropped since I put on the bigger tires I have yet to figure out how much though (about ~50km less on a tank). I also noticed it's a LOT slower, which I don't mind too much especially in the cold winter here!

All this is expected since the tires are bigger and heaver, but the up side is they look A LOT better!!

I have the 318 (5.2L V8). I think you'll probably find it a lot slower than I do. I'm not sure how the V6 would handle the bigger tires with the lower gears....???

I was very surprised at how much power I lost when I jumped up to 33's. I have a 5.2L V8 and I got stomped by an old, bone-stock V6 Ranger today. I will definitly be re-gearing soon.

I have 32's on my 00 with a 4.7 in it. I also had 3" exhaust and throtle body work done right about the same time. No lose in power and when my foot is not in it I get anywhere from 15 to 20 on HWY and 10 to 15 in town. Like I said though, I have to keep my foot out of it. Not sure what gears are stock, but they apear to be pretty high. When going about 65mph I am only doing about 2000 rpm's. Hope this helps.

You can expect to get higher highway mileage because one revolution of the tire will get you farther and once you get going, you use A LOT less gas. In the city you don't really "lose" power but it will seem a little more "sluggish" because the tires are bigger and heavier so they're harder to get going...

I tend to disagree with some of the inputs. I have adjust the speedometer to read true with the larger tires on. I switch from 33's to 285x75x16 Almost 33's. I notice a slight MPH difference when I changing them out. I am lighter on the gas while cruising flat roads and highways. Gotta give it a little more to get started but over all I really noticed no change in mileage. Up hill with all that meat being thrown around you'll eat up gas there. I keep track of my MPG's on spreadsheet.

i have 275/75 on my truck and have noticed a significant decrease in gas milage. although i haven't had my speedo changed i am reading 270 miles to a tank. adjusted it comes to about 40-50 miles less per tank. power wise, i have the 5.9, it seems fine but shifts all wrong(getting the computer adjusted tomorrow). off road there is plenty of torque so that's not even a concern. i have the stock 3.55 gears and would like to put in the 3.92's but don't want to spend the cash. i would assume they would correct my gas issues as well as false speedo/odometer.

Ian, going with the 3.92's will give you worse gas mileage, not fix it.

3.92's will hurt you on the highway but will help you in the city and put less strain on your tranny. The gears won't fix your speedometer though. I'll be getting some 4.10's this spring.

I have a 93 Dakota 4X4 xtra cab automatic with stock rubber and alloys. I have purchased a 3" body lift and 32 11.50 tsl thornbirds not yet installed.

anybody install a 3" on a similar truck to give me an idea what new parts I need in advance. Last time I did this on a ford I needed a longer gas fill, different/modified rad hoses, and ended up having to go with electric cooling fans.

any input would be a big help....
