I currently have a 98 Dakota, 5.2L V8 ext. cab and am looking to get new tires for the truck. America's tire co said that they can fit 31/10.50's fine on my truck, I'm not sure if that's too big, I don't want it to rub. What are your people's expierence's?

Do you have a 4x4 or 2wd? 4x4 31's easily fit, and you probably could put 32's, I think 33 can fit if you do some modifications but I really wouldn't recomend them. IF you have a 2wd I think 31's are pushing it. I think it is the equivalent to a 30" tire that can be sqeezed in. Really you can go a little more than they recomend but you may have to trim a little.

Out of everything I typed out I must've had a brain fart, yes it is 2wd. I don't mind minor trimming if I can fit the 31's. I think what I'm going to do is goto one of the tire shops and see if I can find some used 4x4 take offs of a durango which are 31's and have them put those on for cheap and see if they rub. Anyone happen to know the specs of the stock wheels? 15x7 ? with what backspacing?

The backspacing it 4-3/4, but the 31's won't fit. On a 2wd you will have to put a bodylift on before you can squeeze a 31 on there. However, for a 4x4 you can fit a 32 on it with just turning the torsions a little, you 2wd guys don't have a the luxery of having torsion bars up front. So basically, i believe the max size of tire is a 235/75R15. I'll break it down very simple for everbody:
Stock = 235/75R15
3" Body Lift = 31x10.50x15
3" Body Lift + 3" Suspension Lift = 32x11.50x15

Hemidakota97 is right. The 31's will not fit on a 2wd.

I posted in the raised dakota section this question...
The fabtech 2" lift to level it, do you think that I will be able to use the stock wheels and put 31's on ?
I know you say 3".. I really just wanted to make it even with 31's is what my goal was.
