i have a 97 2wd cc. i am looking to raise the rear 1-2 in. i have heard about the add-a-leafs, but it seems like it would be much easier to install longer shackles, and it would keep the stock ride. also, what is the deal with hangers. are they needed in conjunction with the shackles? where can i find a set of shackles? what is the difference between installing them in the front or in the back? thanks for the help.

I have a 2000 dak 2wd with 2 inch lift shackles. I didn't buy the hangers and it still lifted my dak 2 inches.

Just remember, if you buy 2" longer shackles that it only lifts your truck 1". Also, longer shackles aren't the greatest solution because it results in more body lean because of the increased leverage. There aren't shackles in the front just a hanger and you wouldn't want to lower just the front as it would screw up your pinion angle.

Add-a-leafs are just as easy as shackles to install. With larger tires it will offset the extra "spring" of the add-a-leafs. I'd go with them before the shackles. Fabtech ones will probably ride the smoothest

Hey Chaximus, I see you added some shackles on your 2wd. Did you relocate your leaf springs on top of your axle? Stock leafs are under on 2wd as you know so I thought adding an add-a-leaf or longer shackles would lower the truck. Am I right???? Damn I need to get this sh!t figured out and raise the back end!!!!!

thanks cop-out, I tried that site and it looked like some custom spring manufacturer. I didn't see anyplace where I could order a specific part number. I also found some shackles at truckinsuspension.com. I attached a link below, they are saying I need to order the hangers along with the shackles and that I could not do them seperately. DOes that make sense? HEre is hte link:

Hey Chaximus, did you remove the hanger when you put in the new shackles? I just ordered the new hangers and noticed that the stock ones are on with some heavy duty rivet that looks like a serious pain in the a%% to remove. Did you remove these things and if so any idea what the hell I need to do. Those f-ers look mean....
