I have a '01 4x4 Dak. I'm coming up on 36,000 miles my first year and the the front end is starting to squeak when I'm off road and when I turn the wheels either stopped or moving slowly. I am not able to find any places to grease. Am I blind?

I love this truck, but the only thing I hate about it is the tranny. If I romp on it then let off it slams into 2nd. Also my truck idles at 500 RPM (without A/C on) and it seems to fight to keep it running, rough idle. What's the deal.

Do a search on the boards for "front sway bar bushings". That's the squeaking noise. There is no place to grease, the bushings are rubber. I had mine replaced under warrantee (I have an '01 QC 4x4, w/ only 18k mi). Apparently there is a dealer upgrade to polyurethane bushings, but I wasn't offered it.

I can't help with the tranny issue - i have a stick, and doesn't have that problem ...

Our trucks have coil over plugs which allow the idle to be so low on the v8, mine idles around 600, but it's not rough at all.

Thanks OgreBoy, I later found some discussions about ball joints and lubricating this and that, but I'm going to check out your idea. I have just under 36K miles so I will request the polyurethane bushings if possible and get them under warranty.

Thanks Again!
