Don't know of any clubs, sandman. I've been in Michigan for 8 years now and the only place I've found to offroad is when there's 6" of snow ON the road! hehehe
Supposed to be going to Silver Lake sand dunes next weekend with some buddies. That'll be my first Michigan wheelin' trip. I've always wheeled in Wisconsin and Minnesota while deer hunting.
Can't help ya with your question though ...

I was an Army brat. I grew up mostly in Germany and in Gerogia. My dad taught my to drive off road before I learned to drive on the raod. I have lived in Michigan since 93 and it is not easy to find places to wheel. I miss how easy it was to find places to go wheeling in Georgia. I would hop on my cb and give a shout out four someone who wanted to go wheeling and I never had any problems finding people to go wheeling.

I have been to Silver Lake. It was fun. I would like to find some other good off-road places somewhere in lower Michigan. Find a place, and I am sure others will want to go.

I do not know of any clubs, I lived in Michigan my whole life. If you want two tracks I would suggest Gladwin county...(take 75 N to 61 turn left or West and go for about 15 to 20 minutes if you hit route 30 you went to far. You will start to come into dense woods. Look for fire roads..((sandy dirt roads that go north and south)).. These roads will have two tracks off of them. word of warning DNR heavy in this area tread lightly...It is legal but be carefull). MUD - I would suggest going to Sterling truck trails. About 15 minutes from other area. Take 75 N to 61 turn left west to Lincoln rd and that changes into School rd..it will be the first road on your left after gas station..When yo uhit this road turn right tak eto Maple Ridge rd about 8 minutes. Take that road till it dead ends turn right, take that road till it dead ends. Turn right again about 100 yrd you will see a clearing on you left about 60 yrd wide turn left you should see a sand hill in front of you when you enter this clearing...Called the pipe line...Mud will be deeper towards the end (44's needed) You can get around most mud if you had to...Don't forget TOW STRAPS MORETHEN JUST ONE!!!!! Have fun...I have been up there about ten times and never saw and DNR...Have fun

You've got good taste, Dale ... a Raptor and a Dakota!

I've got the same set sitting in my garage! ;o)

We usually make a few trips to Silver Lake. The truck's basically my raptor transport now, but I do drive it out to the beach to unload and it takes the dunes on the way out.

Hey Blizzard, I'm reading your profile and I noticed you have a P.A. Body Lift. I was wondering if you put it on yourself? If so how difficult is it? I will be getting a body lift in a couple of weeks and then the tires in april. I was going to put it on myself, and with the help of a couple friends. Is there any shortcuts you might know of? Thanks for the help.

Actually, Michigan Offroad in Lansing installed mine. If you search the forums for body lift install you will probably find all the shortcuts you'll need. I haven't been here for awhile but I know there has been a lot of discussion on that subject in the past.

I just moved to Traverse City. I was on the MTU Four Wheelers in da' UP and rode along w/ the guys up there. Now I have my own Tahoe and am looking to go wheeling around here. I just went to Silver Lake this Memorial Weekend and had a blast, but I like going mudding in the woods a lot better. If anyone ever finds a group to go, let me know! My email is tmblank@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Tra

Scott,

I haven't been to The Mounds myself but I have had many friends that have been there. They say that it is pretty sweet. Apparently there are some nice hills to climb and a ton of mud holes.

I'm actually from Saginaw and I will have my 3" body lift on my truck in a couple weeks. Maybe we all should make a plan to meet up sometime to get our Daks dirty.
