I have some lights and need a place to mount them.

Is there a difference between the Fabtech light bar and the Procomp. Has any one seen both of them side by side. Does one have cheeper mounts or welds, ect. than the other.

I was also thinking of making my own. Any sugestions.

I have the procomp and I'm not sorry I bought it. but one thing about the procomp is it goes straight across while the fabtech appears to curve around the bumper a little more.

but 4wheelparts.com has a realy good deal on the procomp right now. 105.00 with free procomp lights. only ran me 130.00 with a switch kit and shipping.

It does vibrate a tad on rough roads though.

I have an ORI light bar that I purchased through www.offroadwarehouse.com, and I am very happy with it. It curves around the bumper and is custom made for the Dakotas. I think it is even cheaper than the fabtech and pro comp bars. If you want to check pictures of it then I can e-mail specific ones or check out my roomates web shots page at http://community.webshots.com/user/jobu0088

My truck is in at least half the pictures. Any other questions, I am always checking this board or my e-mail.

FINALLY!!! papa smurf, I like your ORW pre-runner bar alot... so, I just ordered one for $160 delivered! I have been searching for that type of bar instead of the pro comp or fabtech bars that I have been holding off on buying for the last 6 months. I already have 100W ProComp 6x9's to mount to it that I orginally bought for my rollbar but they were too big to use all five light tabs on light bar so I just put them in the shed to use on a pre-runner bar when I bought one. I will still have two left, mmmm... where to put them? Hope I am not mistaken at night for a football field when everything is wired up! LOL.

Grizzly double/single rollbar with (6) Hella's, Custom Manik Nerfs, Hard Work and $$$$$$$$$$

Nice looking light bar man. Do you have any problems with the lights shaking when you drive at night? How does that mount?

Run your fingers over my truck, and I'll run over your fingers with my truck!

I have never had problems with them shaking at night, the lights are on pretty tight though. The only bad thing that has happened is I accidentally turned the lights on with the covers on and it has burnt holes through the covers, oh well I think I am going to switch my covers with my roomate's, he will never notice.

The bar mounts directly to the stock bumper at four points, two on top and two in the front. All you do is figure where center and level is on the bumper, mark your holes and drill. Then you just put the screws in and you are done. It is quite simple and I believe that you can get it powder coated in a different color for an additional cost. Offroad Innovations is in San Diego somewhere (doesn't matter for me I am in Lexington, KY). The owner told me that he custom makes a skid plate that will attach to the bar and down to the suspension, should be quite nice. I thought about getting one made here in Lexington at KY Offroad, but I think I am going to go solid axle as soon as I get the money and the right axles so the front skid wouldn't do me any good because there wouldn't be anything to attach to.

By the way the right axles might have been found so hopefully the transformation will begin soon...

Thanks for the info, I am going to order the one from ORW for $180 shipped with tax. It looks more like a custom bar than the other universal bars out there. Night wheeling here I come!

Perpetrate, u get your light bar yet? Still haven't got mine since I ordered it back on 11/12 when it was supposed to be shipped out no later than 11/18/02. Just called them and they are waiting for it to arrive from their fabricator, WTF man, that sux. They charged my card the very same day and don't seem in any big hurry to get it out to me know. I was planning on installing this during Thanksgiving weekend as it is the only weekend I have off for the next three F'in months with school, dammit.

Yes it takes all of 5 minutes to install. The gobs of shrink wrap that they put on it takes longer to take off then it does to install the bumper, especially if you have a second person (those extra two hands come in handy when marking and drilling). Sorry about you all having to wait on your bumper, when I talked to the manufacturer he pretty much told me that he custom makes them when he gets the order, but the powder coat shop is what holds up the delivery. I know the wait sucks, but you won't be disapointed in the craftmanship and the look. I get pretty many compliments all the time.

Mounted mine on my truck last light. Looks good and I still need to mount my lights and the wires and relays to run them. I have some 8" lights but look kinda big for the bar. What are other people running for lights. I want to use these lights because they have 130W bulbs and are already paid for.

GD it!!!! Still haven't even got mine yet and I ordered before you lol. I called them last Tuesday and they said... oooops! The guy who fabs them forgot to send it out, sorry so it will be out by Friday(three more days?), here it is Wednesday and still not here, I have the worst luck, oh well. Maybe I'll see mine before xmas. I'll prolly just wait until spring to put it on now anway it's so crappy here with over a foot of snow and don't want to have a rusty pre-runner before it gets nice again. The excessive NY salt and sand/rocks wreaks havoc with anything metal especially on the front of your vehicle that gets pelted the most. I LOVE NY!

I wish it was a real pre-runner bumper.

I like the Lightforce lights with there variable focus beam pattern and their colored covers. The prices are good and the lights only way 24 oz. Most people know of their 9.5" but they have smaller 6.6" 170 strickers for $186.99 or the 5.6" 140's which I am looking at. Online they are running $142.99 with free shipping. Other wise I might score some used Hellas that are slim and about 6".

They are the next step forward in off road lighting with lots of features for the price. Does any one know of some one with Lightforce lights?

I talked to JC again at ORW tonight and they still haven't shipped because the fabricator hasn't picked it up from the powdercoater since he dropped it off before Thanksgiving(that's my problem how?). He told me they would ship it tomorrow(third time with that promise), I told him to keep it and suggested he actually checks on product that a customer pays for so they don't wait almost a month like me, of course I got a "sorry", but what a hassle, if I hadn't called who knows how long it might have been. They could have at least offered free shipping or 10% off, anything and they could have kept my business, oh well. Maybe I'll order another one in the spring when the weather gets nice if they give me a deal, otherwise I'll just have the local shop copy it using the pics and save myself the headache. I always seem to have problems ordering stuff from the west coast, lol. Another wonderful mail order buying experience down the drain. Mmmm... maybe I should order now so I have it in time for spring:)

On the lights, I like Hella and heard good things about their platinum slim lights with 130W bulbs. Hope you are enjoying your(or should I say mine? lol) bar Perpetrate and be sure to post some pics if you can so I can dream until spring.

I got some picture on my web site for all to check out. http://www.geocities.com/ridemoreworkless

I got some free 5" lights from a bro so I stuffed them with some 85W PIAA bulbs to match the PIAAs in my other lights. I was very impressed on my several night rides through the dunes on Glmais. Extra light can only help at night. Vibration was visable but not bad. It is caused by the 3" bumper brakets flexing. But most important is that it looks BAD ASS.

2THEXTRM - did you get yours on your dak yet.
