Just as a warning, you may want to replace your front shock bolts with grade 8 hardware before you break them - I just broke the other one.

I did that some time ago, along with some other ones that seemd to fail. Right now I'm missing a whole bracket to the top of my front diff because the thing torqued off the hole in the diff housing.

I'm starting to think all of the fasteners used on this truck are made of softened metal...

Even if you replace with grade 8 beware it still may shear off. This happened to me twice now. I know that I am rough on it by doing rock crawling but still I think it is a pretty bad design but I can't come up with any thing better. After the first $400 to fix it (it would come out even with a bolt extractor so I had to get a hole new lower control arm) and now happening a second time, I am getting closer to either a solid axle or a different vehicle.

I've also heard of this same problem with the rancho lift as well.

Grade 8 is only stronger in tension, not in shear. I'd go with a grade 5

Message:
That is true that Grade 8 isn't necessarily stronger in shear, but the bolts aren't failing in shear. They're failing due to bending fatigue because they're in single shear mounting. If they were mounted in double shear, they wouldn't be bending and any failures would be due to shearing. Because the bolts are bending, a higher strength bolt (in tension) will help.
