It depends on what year you have. If you have a 99 and older you can get that low of gears. If you have a 2000+, then thats a different story.

I'm fairly sure you can get those gears. But just out of curiousity why would you want to go that low?

The center section of your front diff is a Dana 35. (Least that's what I'm under the impression it is).

Hey Knobby...why does it matter that he has the Dana 35? Doesn't mean he couldn't get the 4.56.

Hey Tony...try calling again, Knobby is right in wondering why you need that much gear...planning on lifting your truck or you just want tons of power?

Either way the 4.56 is a good gear...got a couple friends running those on their Jeep XJs and they love them. Just expect a huge difference in driving when you get them in.

Yes they do have them. Ive talked to them numerous times and that is where Im going to get mine.

Call them back. What size tires do you run or plan on running. Why that low?

Knobby it doesnt matter that he has a Dana35. What are you talking about?

I have 33's on stock rim. I'm planning on buying a new set at 33x12.5 on a new 15x10 rim people say the 4.56 gears is perfect for a 33. That's why. I have 3.92 stock why would i spend so much just for a 4.10? 4.56 is like stock gearing again with 33 maybe a lil more lower. The 33's make the ole 6er tough to drive on the highway cuz the damn overdrive keeps jumpin in and out. I did call them back! They said the dakota is a "special" dana 35 and was altered to work with the IFS in the front. I dont know...sounds weird to me. All I know is I'm really damn pissed and I need these gears for my tires!

97 - 99 Daks and Durangos used Reverse cut Dana 35 up front. 2000 and newer use a 8 inch Chrysler.

FWIW, 3.92's and 33's are a very good match. 4.56's will give you lots more low end umpf with a V6, but its going to kill your gas mileage on the highway because you will be turing some pretty high RPMS.

But hey, what do I know...........

Called ring and pinion again and they said its a standard rotation... not reverse and the the 3.9 ratio is all that available for it which is what i have stock. I dont know...sounds weird to me that dodge would spend extra time making a special diff just for the front of the dak.

I have 33's and 3.55's and run 2100 RPM at approx 65 mph and an auto tranny. I think you might be under estimating your numbers a little.

I know for a fact that 4.10's are available for 97-99 Daks. I am about 95% sure than the front is a reverse Dana35. I am 100% sure, per Dodge, that 2000 and up have a new 8 inch Chrysler front.
Take it for what its worth, which aint much.

If yours is a 99 then that would explain the difference. The gearing in the tranny is different as the 2000 up has a different tranny. My wife has a 99 4x4 Durango and there is quite a bit of difference. I still think that 4.56's and 33's are going to be a bigger change than you think, but I have been know to be wrong on many occasions.

As far as I know, they should be the same. Randy's is pretty good. When I was shopping around for gears I got quite a few different stories. Randy's was the only one that seemed to know there stuff. What they told me was confirmed by Dodge when I finally called them. Dont know what to tell you. Good luck.
