i dont know if anyone remembers when i posted the knocking post a short while back, just before the temporary shutdown of this site to non members? i wasnt able to log in as i am not a member. well, the knock proved to be bad, but not that bad. turns out the pump went bad, and that was the sound it makes on its way out. $1200 to R&R. hey, it could have been an engine knock, and i would have to remover the engine, pull the crank, check the cylinder, the rod, etc. much better the tranny went than the motor!!!!!! apparently when those go, i was told they tend to mess up the rest, as it spews crap throughout the rest of the tranny. the day it went out, was the day after i had the tranny shop check to see if it was the trans VS. the motor. the concluded it was the motor. BOY, they were wrong. well, the truck shook violently when i went to shift it into reverse. i put it back into gear and then later, i shifted it again and the engine started up, i heard a quick squeak and some small noise, no knocking but the tranny failed to shift in reverse. that was it! now it sits at our apt. complex waiting for a huge paycheck for it to be rapaired.
