Subject: Ian at Truckin: Chance to redeem Truckin

Ian, I've seen all the posts about what happened to Knobby and even commented on it myself. But others have made a good point about you and Truckin getting shredded on the net. You definitely made a mistake with the lift for Knobby. You admitted that. OK..... I do believe in giving second chances. I have been given plenty myself. Here's the way I see it....

You are trying to break into a niche in this market. Namely the IFS R&P 4x4 market. This hasn't been done by any of the estabished lift mfgs yet. I had never heard of Truckin before Knobby and my local 4x4 shop told me in May.This is obvioulsy new engineering. Yeah..bigdakota's truck does look good but pre 2000 lifts aren't new.

In defending yourself you insist that your kits have been fixed and are sound. HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS. Why don't you offer 20% off and free install by shop of choosing on any size lift for 2000+. Do this for a limited time. If your stuff is as good as you say it is then you will have bonafide testamonials that your stuff works.

I know you have seen posts where people extol the virtues of companies that make good stuff and treat them well. If you suck and treat people badly you will be shredded. So you could have lots of people writing posts on boards everywhere AND talking to their friends extolling your virtues. If your stuff is that good it will show and you will make your money back in sales.

If you make that offer I would SERIOUSLY consider it. I would have to check out warranty first.

Also you said you couldn't control how fast UPS ships. Yes, you can. Send it overnite. If you made a goof fix it ASAP. This isn't some mail order radio kit where waiting a week for a part is just a minor inconvenience. Most cases this is someone's primary ride. Major hassle to drop off and arrange rides to work and stuff. I'd be pissed if I had to wait an extra week on top of the 3-4 days of reg install.

Think about it!!!

way to underbid yourself arthur. lol

in all seriousness ian this could be a big break for you. if you know without a doubt that your "new" lift works then give it to us 20% off and you tell us where to go get it installed. this seems like a fair shot for all.

what is in the past is in the past. i am sure knobby will never be satisfied with your company ( and rightfully so ) but there still is a chance to convert the rest of us. if you possibly want people to buy your lift then the only way to get your name out there is to make your lift available to as many people as possible. thats just my .02. even though i feel that knobby wasnt done right, every1 deserves a second chance. if not i would be under the jail by now with no chance for parole.

I have read all the posts concerning Knobbys lift and to be completely honest with you....I would never buy anything from Truckin.

I have never even heard of this place until I started reading this board.

If I was looking for a lift for my truck, which I am not by the way, Truckin would never ever see any of my money.

Typically I don't listen to one sided conversations, but it seems that Knobby had his say and this Ian dude had his say. Knobby got some of his money back, and Ian, well, didn't want to let go of when things went wrong.

Word of mouth can work both ways for a business. I know, I work in a service business. All it takes is one pi$$ed off person to start complaining and it all goes to hell from there.

Will Ian suffer? I doubt it. His business will continue just like any other small business. Will Ian see anymore money from the people on this board? Maybe. Will he see my money? HELL no!

Mark

Dodster, bigdaddy & arthur - I have to agree with you guys the whole reason I bought this lift was to give them a second chance I'm sure you've seen how many people have told me not to trust them. I decided no one has heard of Truckin and I'd give them a chance to make there name known. If they have redesigned there lift I do believe that they should be given a chance. I will NOT let them try on my truck but if someone has a truck that isn't there primary vehicle I would try and see if this new lift works. I would make sure and get in writing a firm completion date. Something that says "So and So's Dakota will be finished by this date or Truckin owes me x" If X is a dollar amount.. or a certin amount per day or something.

That way no one can say he or she didn't do something correctly.. I would definatelly watch who ever does the work and make sure they aren't choping things off your truck that isn't suposed to get cut off.

I'd like to see this "New Lift" and see if they've actually corrected all the problems. I doubt that they actually have fixed them.

i been reading about all this truckin lift. from what i read this ian dude ain't gonna do it. he was too smug about not paying attention to internet posts. he basically said he don't want our business. he talked a lot about fixing them lifts but he ain't gonna put up no special offer to prove it. which will really tell us he ain't for real and his company sucks. he talks a lot but dont do nothing to back it up.

Ohh, i don't expect him to give us jack crap, and i don't plan on getting their lift either, i just wanted to see if ian would give us anything or if he feels he owes us nothing. I mean, i wouldn't mind a 6.5" lift for my truck...just doubt it will ever be a truckin without them bending over backwards to get my money, and if they do, then it means they either really fixed their lift and are willing to prove it, or they are just trying to get our money and then cut and run. Either way, i just wanted to see what they were willing to give us.
