I am refurbishing a ConFer reack for my 01 QC. Anybody know of any good sites or places to find the best price on lights. Im either looking at Hella, Pro Comp, or PIAA lights. Any inside info on these brands would also be greatly appreciated, Pros or cons, or past experiences.

I have two KC 150 watt hilites and they are awesome. I got them from www.desertrat.com and they were half the cost of all other sites ($80 instead of $180) My roomate has the KC 55 watt All Seasons and they work good on a rack, you can see pictures at http://www.we-go-offroad.com/members/rides.cfm?MemberID=153 (these are probably the ones you want because they light up the area close in front of you, mine shine up to a mile or something like that). I believe that he got all four of his for less that $150, but I can't remember where he got his.

The only change id think you would have to make would be a slightly larger fuse.

Do the Hellas yo uhave shake around? I know the KC lights have a rubber mount to absorb shock.

The right lights will depend on the kind of driving you do. A pencil beam is probably the worst for most circumstances. Unless you are going 100mph and need to see three miles in front of you they are next to useless. The best beam for your buck will be what is commonly referred to as a "euro-beam." Hella and PIAA both make a good light - no offense to the ProComp fans but I think those lights are priced more than they are worth - and they are CHEAP! Sure a HELLA or PIAA is more expensive but the quality and quantity of the light output is worth it. If you want to run some inexpensive lamps I'd be happy to provide you with some 150watt pencil beam Cepek lamps for $30 bucks a lamp - new. These are basically the same as the KC lamps - same housing, same lens, same rubber mount. But I'm not a fan of them and wouldn't suggest them for 99% of the drivers on the road. It boils down to how much you want to spend and if you want them for looks or actual performance.

I have 4 150 watt stainless steel KC daylighters on my 86 Bronco and they are great. They are on a light bar mounted on my roof. I have 2 set up for right in front of me and 2 set up for a little longer distance. No complaints here. I also have the KC 46 Series on my bumber.
