I have an opportinity to transfer to Austin soon. I might just take it after what we went through over the last couple years with the hurricanes.

Man, I tell ya! It didn't matter what I did to try and sell it. Lower the price, some genius would always offer WAY less. Try to part it out, people want it complete. Can't win for losing. I still have it for now. It's really going to be a monster when it fires up for the first time! I'm kinda glad the short block alone didn't sell. I spent a month of Sundays putting it together. But, I digress. It'd definitely be the last motor you'd have to buy for the truck. I built it to last. Tell you what, I'll look you up if we end up moving. How's the fuel cell thing coming along?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I still need to fix my roof from stupid hurricane Wilma. Yes, it's still complete, pre-oiled and ready to run. If you really want to talk price, it should be worth a phone call. I'm at 954-326-0009.

Hey, no skin off my back (that would really hurt). Historically, I've always sold my big-ticket items like this off evilbay anyway anywhere from 6-12 mos afterward. There are lots of folks out there looking at everything else right now and I'm pretty sure a handfull of them are seriously thinking thinking it over.

1) It's tough enough to realistically hold a 125-150 shot of NOS and keep on truckin'. Everything inside has been appropriately upgraded for the power level. It could be a daily driver with a step down in camshaft selection due to the aluminum heads and 10:1 static compression ratio. The aluminum drops it down to 9:1.
2) People usually don't realize that almost every other low deck stroker is built with a minimally prepped heavy crank and the shorter 383-400 rods. This means bigger and heavier pistons, less torque, and less horsepower due to residual drag from the rotating assembly.
3) All of the low buck stroker kits out there aren't balanced and the pistons and rods are from cheaper off-brand vendors. The compression ratios are almost 12:1(!) - way too high for pump gas.
4) It's .010" shy of 440cid. Even at .060 over a 383 block can still handle another .030-.040" overbore. I've gotten in alot of arguments over this but I stand by what I know. Yeah, the main webbing is a little beefier in the 400 block, but c'mon, when was the last time you saw a bottom end come apart in any big block unless way too much nitrous was used? Never.

Bottom line, it's a really, really strong motor. Somebody will want it, probably around tax return time. It'd sure wake up your Dak but don't think about it too long or it might just be gone by the time you make up your mind...

i really dont need to invest that kind of money into it but we're only young once.

right now i'm just debating something like your motor or building up a small twin turbo project for the 400 i already have.

The twin turbo deal sounds neat but it won't be cheap. Tou'll have to have a beefy long block to put up with the abuse. I saw a guy on this site that turbo'ed his 4.7. It went like stink until the stock internals threw in the towel.

New job, new kid, new motor (maybe), you've got alot going on in life right now. I don't know much else about Texas other than the barbeque is really good, people are friendly (not like South Florida, this place blows) and there's alot to do both indoors and outdoors. I can also get twice the house for half the money. It would be nice to have have some land and a nice, big shop out back to work in again. I just got an old 354 hemi that I'd like to build up and do something with, like stick it in a SWB 1967 Dodge pickup. I need it like I need another hole in my head but it was a great deal, I couldn't pass it up. The 438 is really a better motor and will make more power but I like the old hemis. The awe factor would be off the scale if anyone looked under the hood too! Besides, it's a leftover piece of the puzzle from my 1970 Challenger that I had to sell before I moved down here. This is all gonna be a dream until I have somewhere to work on vehicles, and I really need to fix my roof first (groan)... stupid priorities! Why can't I just be irresponsible and impulsive like I used to be?

well new job is going to come now because of baby... i been waiting for him to be born so i can start looking. It's going to be another job in the retail business but about $15K more a year.. that'll be nice.

houses in texas are nicely priced, that's for sure. I wasnt sure about florida, but i've been up in the mid east and i know it's expensive as hell up there.

Our little guy is playing a part in the possible move too. This is no place to raise a child. All the hip-hop-gangsta crap is a little too close to home. Then there's the 'slow and the slurrious' crowd of baggy pants wearin' skinny punks all over the place that you have to deal with too, the product of inattentive big-city parenting.
