There I was minding my own damn business and the light turned green. So I feathered the throttle (Imagine that) and a solid sound dragging under the truck started. I quickly pulled off and looked under the truck to find I snapped my traction bar!

The moral to the story is if you hammer on your truck day in and day out, it gets used to it. Don't baby it! It will break every time!

I broke the crankshaft in my VW the only day I was nice to it. Go figure.

Wow! I just e-mailed Competition Engineering and asked where I could get a replacment eye bolt and how to prevent it from breaking again. They asked for my address to send me a new one and gave some tips. Within hours! I'm impressed.

The Tech guy said to give it more pre tention on the spring.
I have found that that makes the ride stiffer that it already is but if that the way it needs to be, so be it.
I'm driving with just one bar on for a day or two and holy crapola what a difference. If I nail it is tends to push to the side that isn't connected.
I know I shouldn't be doing that but I had to know. I'm a tweaker at hart.

The VW will have a 911 type cooling tin/fan. Notchbacks have some extra room in the back, and I'm going to use it.

Which bars are you using? I've been all over their website, found the Slide-A-Link but the Dakota is shown only to 1999.

I love notchbacks! I've got what I call the "Killer Beetle" myself. It's a beast! Engine size is 101.6mm x 69mm, and there's a nice blow through turbo producing 15 PSI. It dynoed at 253 RWHP and is the scariest thing on this Earth to drive (with no weight in the front end). It's faster than the '68 GTO I just sold, and it had 472 RWHP. I really want a Ghia Convertible to stuff that motor in, or maybe a '62 Bus done in a serious Cali style. Glad to know there are some more VW engine freaks out there!
