My wife and I both have 02 daks. Mine is a 4x4 and hers is a 4x2. The steering effort on my truck is a lot less than on hers. Is that a problem or just normal? It is my understanding that both trucks use rack and pinion steering.

I really haven't noticed to much of a difference. You could always take it to the dealer and see if they will pressure test it. Probably just differences in valving in the racks.

Should have mentioned that my 4x3 is the 4.7 v8 and her 4x2 is the 3.9. I think that my pressure is higher?!

Could be but there is a spec for the pressure output.

I have a question about the power steering for my truck (2001 2.5L) It seems to me that the power steering pump is a little loud to my ears. Whenever I rev the engine, I can hear the pump whining... I am not sure if it is within spec or not, but I only have 15,000 miles on it. There is no grinding noise that I would associate with a faulty pump, just the whining noise is kinda loud. I have owned several cars, and i think that this one definitely had the loudest p.s. pump.

Thanks,

Kris

All you can do is take it to the dealer and get him to listen to it. Maybe they will replace it.
