Can anyone help? I have a 2000 4x4 Dakota Regular Cab 4.7L V8 (With a K&N FIPK) The K&N Kit said not capable with a body lift and I can see why. I think that I can modify the intake to accomidate the raised fenders and lowered engine, but I wanted to know if anyone had any tips for normal installation?????????????
clean&shiny is good, mud&dirt is better

I haven't tried this, but have you looked into somehow fabricating an extension for the connector hose?
Would it crimp the diameter of the hose?
Supplies should be available at a good hardware or industrial supply co.

I have the same problem right now with my 5.2L and my FIPK. I removed the shield and cut 1/2" wedge off of my tube so that the filter points up more and just have it right next to the fender. I am thinking of making a 3" adapter to fit in the space between the tube/throttle body. I am also considering getting an older style 13" round filter like the used on carburated cars for years. Right now my fan sprays water onto my filter, and I have a hole from it rubbing before I cut the wedge out.
What are you considering doing, I want to advoid the stock air box if I can.

Stock air box? Hell no! I don't know the 5.2, but I'm going to fabricate my own heat sheild box c/o a friend that fabricates metal. I'll tilt up the intake tube a bit and build a new box around it so it fits just like the K&N one (seals up with the hood) We'll see. I don't know if the 5.2L kit box even looks like my 4.7L
