i want to lower my truck and i'm getting 2" drop coils and was wondering if i can fit 4" blocks in the rear with out many modifications if any. i'm either gonna go 2/3 or 2/4 but i don't want to get to fancy yet so thats why i'm goin with the blocks, well that and cost. thanks

well, 3 or 4 in. blocks are both going to ride rough unless u get shocks. BUT i have seen a Dodge Dakota that dropped its transmission out becaues of 4 in. blocks, so be careful. But otherwise, U know as well as me that its gonna look good :)

ya i will be getting shocks and i figured it would ride rough. this will hopefully be a temporary solution to going low, in the future i would like to invest in bags and stuff but right now i can't afford it.

I hate to tell you but even with bags and huge rims you will still need blocks unless you link it. The transmission problem can be fixed be getting a pinion correction shim already machined into the block. 4 inch blocks will also make your u-bolts drag around if you don't have a pretty decent sized wheel on there. In another words I wouldn't do a 15 with a 50 series and 4 inch blocks. Your leafs would practically be on the ground.

how about 3" drop hangers and a 1" block. wouldn't that drop my truck 4" and still be able to run 15" tires?

Yeah, if the hangers do indeed drop you that much then that would be a nice setup. My hangers dropped me only two (Gen II) and than I got my other 2 in. from my shackles. Then when I bagged it, I put 4 inch blocks under it. You can easily get away with it when your running plus size wheel combos.

The lower you go, the more it screws over the pinion angle and geometry between the rearend, u joints, driveshaft, and the transmisson. By lowering a truck you can actually "push" the driveshaft into the transmission and put your u-joints at an extremely odd angle. An easy way to correct this is to get angle correction shims. Some blocks already have this machined into them while if they don't you can buy them at a shop that sells blocks and stuff. You need about a 4 degree tapered block for about a 4-6 inch drop in the rear.
