I have a 2002 dakota 2wd. I wanna drop it 3-5. Anyone have any advice on hardware? Do they make drop spindles, or do i have to replace the control arms? In the rear, can i get a 5inch drop by using blocks alone, or do i need new leaf springs? Kinda new at this, so any help would be awsome. Thanx...Dale.

I think a five inch block would be insane. On stock wheels it would put your leafs damn near on the ground. A 4 inch block would be all I would do. They don't make spindles for your model I'm pretty sure so you can do a 3 inch drop spring (which will ride rough) or a combination of control arm/ spring. The rear can be done with new leafs and blocks or new hanger and shackles plus a one inch block or any combination you wish to get to the desired height

Thanx jeremy, what if i got 3inch drop coils and drop shocks? would that improve the ride? Also, would just doing coils wreck the ball joints or anything?

i would go with jeremy, I haven't found the drop spindles but have found the control arms and the springs go to www.sporttruckdirect.com for most of your parts and to www.truckin.com for the rest. If you drop any amount using coils it will roughen your ride.Even if it doesn't seem like it when you progress further they can get alot more aggressive. But good coils and shocks will make the ride seem nicer and corner alot better. when you get the system make sure to ask if you will need components for your sway bar as well. western chassis is one of the nicest set of parts I have ever come across and are better priced then the rest. post back for more questions.

The don't make drop spindles for the new model dakotas. I would go with control arms and springs. Redesigned control arms and spindles don't make you lose any travel (if any) and thats why they will always ride better than coils cause the coil decreases the length the bumpstop has to hit and bottom out. In another words a 2 inch drop spindle will lower your truck 2 inches but not the suspension travel. A 2 inch coil will lower your truck 2 inches as well but also lower your suspension travel 2 inches too.
