Although I havn't lowered it yet, I am going with s 2/3 drop on my 99 Dak Sport (2wd). Springs in the front cause I understand that's the best way to keep the stock ride...but what about the rear?

I hear talk about replacing the leaf springs (hotchkis) or going with blocks in the rear.

Could someone splain the difference: Pros vs Cons etc

I'd like to know the best way to go with a 3" drop in the rear...and yes money IS an object (or lack there of :-)) and is often the final decision maker

Thanks

I've had blocks in the back of mine, but I took em out because I need some money so I am gonna sell em...

I haven't tried leafs, but I hear they are supposed to offer very-close-to-stock ride feel.

Anyway, blocks will cause the back to ride rough and have a bigger tendency to bounce. That's about the only draw-back. What I really liked about the blocks is that they make turning very noticeably better, because they make the leafs tighter, which makes for less swaying around a turn.:)

Oh, and blocks are A LOT cheaper than leafs. But like is said a lot, you get what you pay for.

If you know you won't be going over much rough terrain and bumpy roads, I'd go with blocks.:)

No ruff terrain????? Have you looked at many off road 4x4's. They have 4 to 6 inch blocks front and back (other side of axcel) but I think they go over "bumps" quite a bit.

turning is nicer because of a lower center of gravity. and go with shackle hangers for best ride and axle control. as well as less draging potential. Also Blocks do not change the ride. but cramming your shocks 3" shorter makes a more aggressive ride. Get new shocks. And if you are looking to sell your blocks how much did you pay for them???? As for pros and cons. Blocks are quick easy and cheap. Leaf springs offer better ride control but less travel. think car versus truck. Shackle and hangers offer your same factory ride like blocks but with less axle rap.and more weight capacity and travel then aftermarket springs.
