has anyone done this mod? I am considering taking out the leaf bearing spring, from the leaf pack...will this lower my dak and make it ride smoother. I already have a 3-5 kit installed, and am considering using a 1" block to level out the rear, would taking out this leaf do the same thing????

na, daks sit about 3 1/2" higher in the rear, I
could have bought a 2" block and cut it down
to 1 1/2", but 1" is fine. I know a guy who went
3" - 7" and it sits about 1/2" lower in the rear, I
learned from his mistake. plus, I think cause
mine has a v-8, it might be heavier in the front
than v6's or 4's.

so you were 5 1/2" higher in the rear stock?! something is not right. where did you get your kit from?

i have a 4/6 drop on mine and it sits 1" higher in the rear because i think they gave me v6 springs insted of the v8 ones that i need.

this messege is for D. if you are going to take off the load baering spring from your truck, here is the deal, 1. it will only make it lower only by the thickness of your spring, witch is about 1/2". 2. taking this spring out will not chang the ride carecter of how it rides. if you notice the bearing spring does not come in contact with the rest of your springs. 3. if you want to make your dak leval do not use those P.O.S. blocks!!! all those thing are good for is creating to much axle twist. if your budget does allow it, get some western chassis adj spr hngrs. if you are on a tight budget, the most you want to go on block is a 1"..

man, I already put the 5" DJM shackle hangers
in the rear, can you go any lower than that with
hangers??? I think a 1" block is my only option
unless I go 4-link and bags. (too much cash!)

thanx for the info on the load bearing spring.

you can remove a leaf but it isn't good for the rest of the leafs because it puts extra stress on them.on the plus side if you take out a leaf make sure you leave the top and the bottom leafs in place.it will lower your truck 1-2 inches but does ride smoother because it redusses the weight you can carry in your truck.
