Subject: DJM kit after install

Message:
Hey, I used the DJM lower control arm kit to lower the front end of my 2001 cc 2wd.

The new control arms have a weird geometry, kind of bent into a triangle shape, so that it has a real low point that is in danger of touching the ground at times.

has anyone used this kit and had troubles?

nope, I used the 3" DJM control arms, and
yes, they are extremley close to the ground,
but I drive my dakota on some of the worst
streets in the downtown LA/East LA/compton
parts of California, and no problems. I would
just steer clear of any rocks or 2X4's laying in
the street. it even goes through the local
carwash without any problems. the only place
you will have problems is taking it in to get
serviced, my truck is too low to fit on some of
the "older" racks, but other than that...problem
free.

BTW...post some pics of the kenne bell and
drop!!!!

Thats good to know.

Another question D, as you have the same drop as I do. Is your front suspension stiff enough? what shocks are you running?

My front end often scraps, I think on the air dam. If there is a undulation is the road, my truck will take a nose dive if im not careful. is this just life?

also what size tires are you running? did you have to do any special modifications so that you would not rub?

I'm using 255/45/16's.

I used the toxic shocks, so my truck rides like
stock and yes, in a long "floaty" dip, my tires
will rub a little (only on the freeway at high
speeds), but not enough to be worried about.
I am running stock wheels and tires 225/75/
15. I will be switching to the R/T wheels and a
slightly smaller dia tire 255/50/17 eventually.

you can prevent all this tire rubbing by using
larger bump stops in the front (larger than
what DJM provides) this will cause the
suspension in the front to hit the bump stops
before your tires have a chance of rubbing.

I doubt it is your front airdam scraping, mine
never scrapes, unless I go too fast into a
certain FEW driveways. (only happened
twice)

Well, I finally got my tires from not scraping (they used to eat the fender flares pretty good). to do that I just experimented with different tire sizes. so know the bump stops are actually correct.

This guy that owns a custom auto store has said I could try about four differnent pairs of shocks, its going to be a pain to change all in and out.

I'll update you guys on, if any, which shock gives me the best ride while preventing my front end from bottoming out.

I'm running a 2" lower control arm and a 2" lowering spring in mine.I had to drop to a 245/45/17. I'm still running the factory R/T wheels. I drag my cross member a lot, but i don't mind.
