I just want to lower my 2000 SLT 4.7 Dakota an inch just like the RTs, nothing too extreme, just something to get rid of most of the fenderwall. I have the 17 inch RT rims also so it would look pretty good. Where can I find this type of suspension? How much? What is the next drop, is it a 2/3? Would that look better? I don't know much about lowering my truck so I just need some advice. Thanks

if you have the bucks, the hotchkis setup is the way to go. it will lower it 2"f & 3"r. they use springs and rear leafs to lower the truck. it also comes with their optional bilstein suspension upgrade and f/r rollbars. you can leave out the rollbars to save money though. the complete system will set you back about $1200. without the rollbars will be around $780.
if you don't have the dinero, groundforce makes a pretty similar kit for a lot less. they also use springs and leafs to lower it 2/3. you may want to upgrade your suspension to compensate for the lowering. unlike hotchkis, groundforce doesn't offer a suspension upgrade taylored to their system. their complete setup goes for around $490.
one thing you might want to consider is "ride." if you don't care about the side-effects a 2/3 drop will give you (bumpsteer, harshness, firmness, etc.) but you want the performance advantages of cornering then the groundforce set-up may be right for you. on the other hand if you care about the ride and the performance advantages of cornering then the hotchkis should be on the top of your list.
there are other options out there (belltech, western chassis, nu-speed, etc.) but i don't care for them for sh*t and most of those will drop your truck way too low for what you're looking for.
i've rode with friends with both setups and i have to say that the hotchkis is best; the groundforce is waaay to harsh for my blood, but thats just my opinion.

good luck

hey pinoykota, im in the market for a dodge dakota and when i get it i want to try to make it look like a r/t cuz i dont have the money for a real thing. i dont really know crap about trucks so i was wondering if i could just go to a place and tell them about the hotchkis setup and they can get all the crap done for me. or can i just get my truck lowered 2/3 without all the upgrades so it will be real cheap. thanks.

He's just looking for a drop it sounds, not the performance of the Hotchkis. You can always just buy the R/T suspension cheap from a guy who bought the Hotchkis for his R/T. No point in getting the Hotchkis if you aren't going to be using it for what it was intended, right?
