Message:
My friend is selling me his DJM 3" drop springs, and I would like to go 5" in the back. My question is I do at times carry a little wieght and I would like to know if there was any set up that would handle the weight better? Also what else do I need to completely do the drop, bushings, shocks, or stuts or anything else??

Airaid intake, Gibson exhaust, Poweraid TBS, Autolite 3923s, JBA 9mm cables, Borg Warner Brass Cap and Rotor, IAT adjuster, Robertshaw 180 Thermostat, V-8 TB, ASP Pullies, APC Clear Corners, Euro tails, NuImage Plat. gauges, PIAA super white headlights

You need to get shorter shocks (front and back) to make up for the drop. You can get those from sporttruckdirect.com. Because you are getting DJM springs, I would go with a DJM 5 inch rear shackle and hanger kit. I know Western Chassis makes adjustable hangers that can do a 4, 4.5, or 5 inch drop. Either way, with stock wheels and tires, you should have no problems carring weight. Just don't get a 3 inch block. You will also need new bump stops. New bushings would be nice but are not necessary.

jimx ive just purchased a DJM 3/5 kit with control arms/ shackles and hangers. Was wondering if you had any idea of the weight i could carry. In the winter i haul a snowmobile on mine and possibly a double sled trailer. Im pretty sure that this would cause the axel to ride on the bump stops. If that is the case is it ok to drive it like that? It wont wreck anything?

thanks

I would either get air shocks, or air springs to
help level the truck out with the trailer. it would
most likely sit on the bump stops if not.

if your axle is sitting on the frame, and you hit
a bump, the frame usually wins.

Oh ya if i got lower profile bump stops would that give me more needed clearance. and i just thought of this idea. Would 1" lift blocks work in the back with the drop kit? that would probably give me enough clearence i think. Any ideas on this?

thanks
