on a 4/6 drop, 245-40 tires dont rub, but what is the biggest tire you can run in back with the 6 inch drop and not rub, i still want a lil front tilt to it, and wondered how big i could go

dont quote me on that. there are a lot of veriables involved. like by going to a wider tire, it will make the OD taller, but you need the right width to actually go wider (if that makes sence)

there is a good tire calculator on www.dakota-truck.net

you can findout the OD on anysize tire, and kind of figureout what will work and what will not

If your back space 5.5 on an 8.5 wheel the ofset will be about the same as stock that means the wheel will be out 1/4" and in 1/4" futher To be safe I would stick with 245's But Kota's right, you need to understand it or buy the tires from someone that does.
so please Don't take my word for it.
