I need help I lowered the front of my 2000 dak today with the djm 3 in coil springs. To my surprise when i lowered the jack it only dropped 1/2 an inch. What is wrong? It is a totally stock dakota sport standard cab does anyone know what is wrong or what i can do. I got it aligned and the springs are seated right. Please help me.

Which motor do you have? If the springs you have were made for V8 and you have the six or 4 then you get less drop. Check to see if the springs is seated all the way into the pocket. Also, springs tend to settle a little bit.

I had the same problem with mine. I was told they would settle. I waited about 2 months driving around with my front higher then the rear. In all, my 3" springs dropped me maybe 1.5" I ordered the 2" control arms, now I'm down where I want to be, and it also seems like the springs NEED the control arms, because the height went down the additional 1.5" OVER the 2" control arm drop. Sorry if that doesn't make sense. It seems like in my situation, the springs didn't give the full 3" drop until I got the control arms. Hope this helps..

I was wondering. There was a rubber boot or some kind of spacer on the top of the factory springs. do i need to use it? If not i could take them off and get more drop. Also, if i were to use 5in shackles and hangers plus 1in lowering blocks do i need the c notch kit or will it work with 6 in the back?

You must retain the rubber ring on top of the coil spring. if you remove it, the front springs will squeek, moan, groan, bushing is called an insulator bushing. I would retern the front springs and get Eibach or go with Hotchkis. then you will some Quality...

they must have given you coils for an 8, You
shouldnt have to wait for them to settle.
Otherwise they are garbage, metal fatigue,
aint a good thing.

I have talked to djm about those springs and they said that it doesn't always drop it 3". Usually 1.5", which means that they don't care about the design of their spring. They would rather you buy the control arms, that way they get more money. Also spring should settle with in a couple of days.

Go with the Hotchkis springs, there a better design and they make them application specific.

I have a quick question, is there suppose to be a spring boot on top and bottom? When I did my suspension it was only on the bottom.

I just got finished dropping the front of my 2000 V6 and had the exact same problem of it not dropping.I used the Western Chassis 2/4 kit. I dropped the rear using shackles and hangers. My front end is now higher than the rear. Should I get 3" control arms for the front? What brand? Do I need to use the dropped springs whenI install the aftermarket control arms or do I just re-install the stock springs. Thanks for any help or pointers.

You can just use the stock springs, but the aftermarket springs would give it a bit firmer ride. You could always adjust the shackles and hangers.
