I would like to do a 2/3 drop on my 2001 Dakota .
I like the current ride of the truck and want to know if the truck will still ride good . If not how will the truck ride ? Is the look of a lowered Dakota worth the difference in the ride ? What is the best 2/3 kit out there ?

I have a 2/3 drop with Hotchkis springs and leafs. The ride did become a little bouncy. Right now I am using KYB Monomax shocks and was thinking of going to Hotchkis Bilstein shocks soon. They are much stiffer (and more expensive). I read that the stiffer the shocks are the better so the shock doesn't bottom out and you don't hit the bump stops.

I do notice that going over multiple bumps with the current set up, the truck feels a little out of control. On smooth turns, the dak holds the turn a lot better.

The best kit for 2/3 drop is subjective. All are pretty good. Hotchkis is a performance suspension set up and as a result of this the Dak is dropped. Good luck.

I currently have factory sway bars on the truck, is it nescessary to replace them to the Hotchkis ones if I lower it.

I have a front R/T bar and a Quickor rear(aobut 1 inch dia.), I bought from a fellow dak owner. I didn't have enough money to get the whole package so I'm trying to get them slowly as I can afford them. I have heard that the whole package is great because they were designed together. I recently purchased dog-bones from Hotchkis because I have slop in the rear and it's making noise.

If you have the stock rear bar, they are not that thick. But, you do not have to get the bars. The Hotchkis bars are thicker in diameter but they are hollow to save weight. I plan to get the shocks when I can afford them. I think they are more important than bars (at my point in time). O yea, I did hear some owners complain about squeaking issues(I guess with the bars)
