I've got a 2000 Dakota Sport Extended Cab V6 and I wanted to lower it but don't have any idea where to start. I have the regular 15" rims that come with the Sport model and I'm probably not going to get 18" rims for another 6-8 months. Should I wait to lower my car after I get the rims? How much is lowering the car a couple of inches going to cost? I don't want it too low to the poing where I bottom out on speed bumps going 2 mph, but I want it a lot lower than stock. Thanks!

I have a 3/5 DJM drop kit for sale. It will definately give your truck a nice stance, but you won't bottom out on the least little thing. I'll sell the whole kit with shocks for $250. I used it for a year then went to air bags. Let me know if your interested.

Joey,
Yes it will work with the V-8, mine is a V-8, so no problems there.

I'm from Kentucky.

I used a floor jack. Put it under the control arm with SLIGHT pressure. Unbolt, let jack down REALLY slow, comes out easy.

99 Sport, Solar Yellow, DJM 5/7 drop, 18" Coddingtons on the way, 180* tstat, IAT adjuster, autolite plugs, JBA 8mm wires, cap and rotor, MP Intake, JBA headers, 5.9 V8 TB, FUTURE MODS: too many to list

Like low99 said, unbolt and let the arm drop, but be very careful!!!!!!! When you release the pressure on the A-arm, do it very slowly and make sure you get the front of the truck high enough to let the A-arm swing down to its fullest. There is a lot of stored energy in those coil springs, and it could shoot out of the pocket, if you're not careful. I've never had any trouble like that, but I would hate to tell you to do it, and something happen to you or your truck. I'd recommend a good spring compressor if you can get your hands on one, but if you can't, the other method will work.

casdak do you still have the lowing kit for sale.. If so is it spings or lower control arms and is the rear hangers or block. I would be interested in buying it if you still have it for sale. Let me know

Steve,

I still have the kit...it's the front coil springs and the rear shackles and hangers. I also have the 4 shocks to go with it. My springs are for a v-8, so I'm not sure what that will pertain to a v-6 (if you have a v-6), but I'll still take $250 for the whole kit.

If you are interested e-mail me at casdak@hotmail.com
