ok i have a 2001 dakota sport v6 it has the hd package on it and it also has the 16" wheels with 255/65/16 tires. The front tires seem to stick out about 1/2in or so nowwwwwww..... i want to drop it a bit but not alot just enough to take up some wheel well space..... at first i was thinking about just dropping the r/t suspension in but seems as though they are hard to come by or people want way too much for them soo now i wanna know is it possible to drop this truck at all with those wheels on it without them hitting the fenders. i do not want my truck slammed but i would like a a 2/3 or an r/t drop, djm and belltech and western chassis all say i can get away with a 3/5 on these wheels but i think not,,, but i do not wanna go that low anyways and hotchkis is way too expensive. My only problem with the truck is the rear the front is straight... any thoughts on maybe a 2in.. block in the rear maybe???? i have heard of people doing this but this is also a daily driver and it pulls a racecar on the weekends so i can't go too low and i do not wanna lose too much payload . i'd like the rear lower for maybe a bit more traction and to level it out but at the same time do not wanna buy new wheels i'd like to keep these and i'd also like it so that the rear is not dragging on the ground like every s-10 that i see.....
any suggestions

DAK 4X4 drop????
IP: Logged

Message:
OK guys don't laugh too hard.

I would like to drop my 98 DAK 4X4 about 2 inches in front and 3/4 in back.

I have a 01 Durango R/T that is about that much lower so I believe it is possible to have a lower 4X4.

None of the parts houses admit to having a kit that will work.

All constructive ideas appreciated.

Hey Jay, give it a little time. Not everyone is on this Forum every day. I havent been on here in a couple days as a matter of fact and this is the first time that I have seen your post.

Good luck in answering your own question.

Jay, i went with the Hotchkis 2"drop springs front and the rear drop 3" leafs. I have the 17x9 R/T wheels and have plenty of clearance, 3 inches of drop in front is too much, stay with 2.With the Hotchkis rear leafs you maintain the payload capacity. this is how Hotchkis designed there springs..

Jay. im going with a belltech 2-4 drop easy affordable not too low.
coils up front. shackles in rear. the 4 in the back will make it level. Its a
2001 and im not worried about voiding shyt. Any suspension going
to be covered anyways? balljoints? no. shocks? whatever. leaf
springs? i think not. bushings? ill take my chances. control arms?
okay if control arms go then ill take the drop out put the factory shyt
back in and have the dealer fix it.
