Subject: body drop??
IP: Logged

Message:
Ive got a SC 97 dakota and was wondering if i could get a body drop done. Ive just gotten new shocks, a 2" rear block kit for now, but I wanna go lower. Not really interested in a suspension drop at the moment becuz Im looking to bag it later on down the road. Anyone know of any shops in the VA/NC area that could maybe do a 2" body drop?? Any info appreciated.

i'd think about doing air before body drop. body drops are cool (i have a body dropped 2000 dakota) but you'll want to air it up to go over rough areas in the road (driveways mostly). when i had just air or just a regular drop, i didn't mind draggin my frame over some obstacles...with a body drop you'll have a better chance of draggin body and THAT you don't want...

I dont want a dramatic drop or anything, but just dont have the funding for a whole airbag setup right now. Wasnt sure on the prices of a body drop or much of anything concerning it.....just thought itd be a little cheaper for the time being, and get me a little closer to the ground.

Well, a body drop isn't going to be cheaper than a static drop for sure. It'll probably run you 1500-2000. It's not like a body LIFT, with just some spacers. You either need to cut up the floor or the frame (or both). HTH

DP, fyi, a body drop is dramatic! you just cant change your mind if you dont like the body drop and tell the shop to put it back to stock because you're scraping on speedbumps. listen to what everyone is telling you. chances are, they've been there already or know someone who has.
