My friend was telling me about some new state inspection laws that are coming out or already out. He said that you ca NOT have airbags for some stupid reason, can not have shaved door handles(must be for police not being able to get into vehicle if they need to or something stupid like that),and no low pros.I don't know if these are true, but if they are, there are going to be a lot of angry people. If anybody knows if these are true, then please let me know.

Low Profile tires. He said that there is like a certain limit or something. Like when you see a car a vehicle with big rims and little skinny tires. I guess the tires have to be a certain thickness.

I think pretty much any alteration from stock is
illegal, but unless you run into an a$$hole cop
with nothing to do, you wouldnt get a ticket.

Airbags cant be illegal, the audi wagon AWD
sport cross has a 3" adjustable suspension
system.

in orange county cali, you can be fined $1500 for having a ajustiable suspencion. the reason-

most people who install baggs or hydro's want to lay frame when parked. so what happends when you blow a bag, break a braket, line comes loose, or anything else? you lay the frame on the ground while going down the street. a potential accident!

its also true about the tire thing. i almost got a ticket for my tires. heres the reason.

lets say a tire has a capacity to carry 2,500 lbs, and your truck weighs 4,000 lbs. so with all 4 tires you can carry 10,000 lbs. you still have room to load another 6,000 lbs right?... WRONG!!
that 10,000 lbs is sitting at a stop. say you are going 65mph down the freeway, and you have to slam on the breaks. all of the weight transfers to the front of the vehicle. so now with the forces of inertia, you have about 5,000 lbs on the front tires. well if you have to turn while breaking, you transfer all of the weight to one tire! now you have like 9,000 lbs on that tire!

after calculating all of this, my truck with 255/35/20's on it, im 4,000 lbs OVER WEIGHT PER TIRE!! oh well.

lets just say, i put my stocks on when i haul things, and i try not to break hard on my 20's

Eric, the load rating of tires doesn't work quite the way you've quoted. As an example, the 255/55/17 RSA Goodyear on the R/T had a load rating around 1850 lbs. I can put a 295/40/20 BFG tire on that truck and it has a ~2050 lb. load rating. You have to do load rating comparisons with the quoted static figures. There is no such thing as car or light truck tire that will have a 5K load rating.

the figures i quoted were just for examples. i said each tire was rated at 2500lbs.

on the tires you quoted, the 295/40's will either have have more room for air inside, or has a greater max psi, for the added load carring capacity.

i went from a 215/70/15 with a max psi of 35, to a 255/35/20 with a max psi of 44, and even at the max psi, im still overweight on the 20's

Would this law about the tires still hold true if you have a very light weight truck? Let's say around 3000-3300 lbs.
