Subject: u-bolts for rear axle. 3inch big enough
IP: Logged

Message:
I bought a standard 2inch lowering kit for my rear axle from pepboys it came with 3inch ubolts but they won't fit over my rear axle and alighn in the plates that go under the axle.

does anyone know if these are the right ones? can I buy larger u-bolts? or will the ones that are square on the end fit? this is the same kit I've seen in discount auto parts, auto zone, and napa.

all help appreciated.

TRY TRAILMASTER U BOLT 40017 OR OF THE SAME DIMENSIONS. I INSTALLED THESE ON MY DAKOTA WHICH HAS THE 9.25 REAR END. I HAVE A 2000 2WD CREW CAB 360.

I forced mine on (9 1/4 " rear axle) with a pry
bar...wasnt pretty, but they work, just took a
little muscle and sweat.

use some wide pliers to bend the u bolts just
enough, to fit into the plates, its hard, but it
works, or just buy some that fit.

Is it safe to bend them into place for the plates? that is what I was gonna do but I was concerned them might break or something.

so far so good, IMO. they bend pretty easily.
Once I tightened up the nuts, those U bolts
straightened right up.

I guess I'll try again. the u-bolts almost tryed to spring out at me when I forced them down over the axle. could be trickey but I have way to much wheel gap now maybe this will satisfie me till I can get a real drop.
