I'm in the market for a new truck. Right now I drive a '77 chevy 3/4 ton. I only use it to tow jet ski's and carry my motorcycle in the bed.

I've been reading about the Dodge Dakota R/T and am thinking about buying a '99 model.

I'm thinking about putting air bags on it so I can lower the truck really close to the ground for taking the bike in and out of the bed. I'm not interested in slamming it on the frame, but within two inches would be nice.

My questions are, how high would the end of the tailgate be off of the ground when lowered and the tailgate open (if anyone with a lowered truck could measure that would be awesome!), and what equipment would you recommend (I realize that is a really open-ended question). Speed raising and lowering does not have to be insanely fast.

Also, Are the Air-Ride Technologies equipment any good? I saw the guy on Trucks TV install a kit on an S10 on Sunday which is the only reason why I mentioned them.

Thanks in Advance,
Dave in Dallas
