Subject: Help with this squeak...?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi, I have a 98 Dakota Sport that I lowered with Western Chassis 2" Control arms and 1" spring. Well all is well until now, I have a terrible squeak when ever i go over bumps in the road (even just uneven pavement). I thought it could be the control arm bushings so I greased them up. Most of the squeak went away but this past week its been doing the same sound. Some reason I believe it to be the spring, is there anyway to prevent this from happening or do you know of any other possible things it could be?

Also sometimes when I turn my steering wheel I get this huge popping sound (not the ball joints). I was told that it is common on lowered trucks (they said it was the spring rotating around) Is this ok or commmon? or do I need to go back and fix something I did?

Thanks for any help. It is greatly appreciated.

My dak is lowered 3/5 and my truck has the same popping noise when i turn. But the squeak is possibly the springs all you need to do to fix that is put a round rubber ring around the base of the spring on both ends. There should of been some on there stock.

It came with the rubber rings on the top of the stock coils, but not the bottom (im not aware that youre even supposed to place a set of these rings on the bottom since the control arm is designed to let the coil sit properly in the pocket.

Thanks

I have the rubber boot on both ends of my coils maybe you could use the undercoat rubber spray to get rid of the metal to metal contact cauesing the squeak.
