Subject: Do I need new shocks with a 1/2" drop?

Hi, I have a 2003 Dakota Quad cab 4.7L that I wanted to lower a little. I had an 01 the same and used a Belltech 2/3 with Doetsch shocks and it rubbed my 255/55/17's really bad in the front on minor freeway bumps and dips until I ajusted the bumps, then I was slamming the bumps all the time.

This time I'm thinking of using a set of Springtech front coils 1" and then "2 for the back to get a lower R/T style stance without all the bump and rub. Are these springs any good? Will I need to get new shocks with a 1/2 ? I like the look of the 2/3 but like mentioned above, I commute 80 miles a day on SoCal freeways and still need something that can be a decent daily driver without all the bump and grind.

Thanks for your time, TC

i have a 3/2 on my 99 v6 dak. i like it a lot, but with your commute, i think your decision for the 1/2 was a good one. new shocks are not needed for my drop, so i think that your drop wont need them either. in order to put the shocks back on, you will have to jack up the control arm untill you can put on the upper shock bolt. the suspension will rest on that bolt, but dont worry about it. hope i helped.
