what would happen if you fabricated some sort of clamp to pull down the rear end of a 4x4? how far could u pull it down with out ruining the ride quality? could u just hook it to the axle and pull it down?

That would be a bad idea. WAY too much unneeded stress on all the parts. How much are looking to drop it?

Well you can't have a truck that's "really low" and be able to reverse it. It would be nice but it's not practical. The most that you can really do and have it easy to reverse would be to simply crank down the torsion bars and have the truck raked forward..other than that all the mods are pretty permanent unless you wanna go through a couple hours of work every time.

Well my suggestion is to get rid of the 4X4 and get a 4X2. Then you will have a wider variety of drop kits to slam you truck. Believe me, pre-fab kits to lower a truck are a lot better than fabbing up you own slam kit. Not that there's anything wrong with 4X4s, my Dad has a 2000 regular cab Dakota and I love it, but I like my Dakotas on the ground.

Beltech makes the BEL-6400 (only like 60 bucks from summitracing.com) that is the one I was told to use. I'm going to try this summer. I was told that some washers might be necessary as spacers. Let me know if it works? Did you ever get the torsion bars "uncranked"?

maybe ill look into that

the bars are difficult to get all the way back up i think both wheels need to be off the ground
