Curt, The taller part of the block goes toward the front of the truck with the short side of the block towards the rear.

I may be wrong but isn't the taller part of the block supposed to be in the rear? since you are basicaly raising the rear axle you would want the tilt to be towards the front so it would align your transmission and rear end. If you had the block tilted to the rear the front of your axle would be pointing up and the drive shaft would be angled down. I could be wrong.

Check out the pictures in the kota+wetroad+dumbass=this thread at the bottom of this board. I think the dealer would send you packing in a hurry if you had the blocks in backwards.

lol... I don't even know if mine are in the right way!! i did em a LOOONG time ago, and whenever i try to think about it logically i get a headache! would it just depend on if u dropped the back, OR how much it's dropped compared to thee front (since that's where the driveshaft is coming from)? so would u want the axle to aim up if u lower the front too????? AAHH that what's messin me up. i need to look under and LOOK and think. but blu4door's reasoning sounds right to me. but i guess i'll find out when the shop puts the new axle in; see how they put the blocks in:) Peace

DAMMIT! now u got me thinkin again! (i was definitely mixed up in my last post)
don't mind me now... i'm just thinking this out in writing. PLEASE, if i'm wrong someone correct me!
OK... from the factory, back is a few inches higher than front. axle isn't angled w/ any blocks. SO, if you're lowered, but still have the back higher, doesn't matter or change anything.(but most people dont go this way). SO, if like most people, u even it out when u drop it(lower the back more)... the axle must angle up to be straight with the driveshaft. So, the block should should be taller in front, short in back!(like RAY said) AM I RIGHT??! DID I JUST FIGURE THIS OUT??! or am i just blowin hot air out myass? YOU DECIDE! LOL sounds good to me, anyone else?? RAY? blu4door? Peace

you had them wrong. The taller end does go at the back. if you deside to get some new ones do it the right way, and you will not have any seal leaks. I have a body dropped quad, so i know these things.

Sorry I forgot to include that I had a 98 dak that I lowered using blocks. Think of it like this. From the factory the trans. and the rear are lined up straight. When you raise the rear (lowering the truck) now the driveshaft is at an angle. Since you cant get it straight again you want the angle to be at the trany. To do this you have to tilt the rear forward so that the driveshaft and the rear are in line. If you do it wrong....well you already know what happens. btw the front being lowered has nothing to do with the rear. Sorry for the confusion guys and hope it turns out better this time. UFDakota. Hope you get your truck fixed. That thing is sweet.

blu4door- thanx
ok, for some reason, i FINALLY REALLY SERIOUSLY DID figure it out. i dont know if i should say anything tho lol. but i think it only has to do with lowering the front. when u drop the back, the axle doesn't go anywhere (DUH). its all about the front where the tranny is, compared to the AXLE! Stock: the driveshaft angles up from the axle to the tranny. when it's dropped, the tranny is lower, so the driveshaft doesnt have to angle up to it. so with the blocks taller in the back, the axle/driveshaft angles down more to meet the lowered tranny. I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I KNOW I'M RIGHT NOW!!!.....right???lol. tell me i'm wrong this time & i'll kick ur a$$!lol But seriously thanx for letting me i was wrong & finally helping me to figure this out. i REALLY dont like knowing how to do something without knowing exactly WHY!! know what i mean? seriously, i soooo better be right. sorry for all the bs; i'm BORED WITHOUT MY TRUCK!!!!LOL Peace

lmao.....yeah you got the concept. lol except you dont move the tranny you move the axle. When you put the blocks in between the axle and the leaves (sp.?) you are raising the axle up. But like I said you got it right. Everyones view is different its all in how you look at it. All that matters is it looks good. Besides thats not my bag anymore, I sold the 98' and bought a new 4x4 so I can look down through the sunroofs at all the skirts. hehehe Sure do miss being so low to the ground though. Later.
