It come time to bag the rear of my dak now. What in your opinion would be the best way? ie: Not to expensive? 4 Link? Ladder Bars? What should I do? I will be shopping from AIM and plan On using the 2600's with the single 3/8" port. What else do you suggest?

4 link are the best way to go, but maybe the most expensive. prolly around $400. Most people use a triangulated 4link, with bags over the axle. they have weld on or bolt on. and, hemi joints or urethane bushings.
there's cantilever setups too, they give more lift, and are pretty simple installs, but that's the only positive i've heard about it.
Of course u could just monoleaf it and be real inexpensive. I've heard u lose the load capacity with this, but the bags should take care of that.
Are u step notching it? i dont know how much drop u need for a genII.

was just checking out 4 links from Ridetech and AIM. ridetech is only about 30 bucks more but judging from everything i have heard its worth it! it looks to be around 475 without bags.

Tom,
The front Bags are holding up great. Had to change those cheap plastic fittings that Aim gave me though. They leaked Bad. It starts lifting at 45psi, and at 110psi, i'm topped out in about 3-4 seconds at full lift (about stock height). The shocks are staying put good. I ended up breaking a weld one day after the install, but soon fixed and reinforced everything for safety sake.
Ufdakota, I plan on laying frame, so I will be step notching it. The bed is coming off in a few days. to get piainted anyway. I think I'll try to fork out for the triangulated 4-link from ride-tech, but any other ideas are welcome. How safe and realiable is the one leaf idea?
Thanks

The mono leaf isn't very safe compare to 4-linking it. It sways wayy tooo much for my taste, expecially on the highway. If you ain't scared of welding, Jason has a 4-link setup for way cheap www.suicidedoors.com . Thats where I got mine but some assembly required. Also I just installed his 7" notch. Every fitted nice.

lol.... kindof funny you getting your rear done and I'm getting my front done right now. Maybe we should compare notes

suicidedoors.com (Jason) has a bad-ass triangular cantilever 4-link crossmember combo prototype. I'm gonna go for that. That thing looks great. That and some monster step notches.

I used the pete and jakes 4 link on my 98. I ran it reversed and it is great. A lot better than aim and about the same price. My truck is bagged all the way with 1/2" lines, valves, and bags and it moves pretty good. If anyone wants pictures of anything email me and I can send you some. I am working on getting a site up but as for now still not done. Thanks, Eric DubKota@aol.com

98 RC V-8 I just got done with running all the line and testing for leaks just to the valves. My cups are s-10 cups HIGHLY modified to fit a set of 2B6 Airlift bags. We finally hookup up the front and got 7" of lift. Wont lay cradle yet but I got that narrowed down so tommorow I"ll lay. just gotta find a place for the shock.

Has anyone here had problems with the swaybar mounts by chance?

Also I got to admitt, Jasons setup is BEEFY!!! Its not no little pipe threaded to some crummy bearing thing. I asked for mine to be not welded so I could get it faster and ....ya beefy was the first thing I could describe them as

I also seen/heard great things about Pete and Jacks stuff. They're in the same state and I see alot of there produsts in shows they have alot more style to there 4 links to Jasons setup. I personally like the caveman look so I went with Jasons setup for $140 unwelded Both are helovalot beter than AIM or FBI

pappie, w/ the swaybars, i don't know if this is what you're talkin about, but when i first dropped my truck i noticed (very easily) that the swaybar rubbed/scraped against the inside edge of my front wheels (stock 15s). it's cuz the damn endlinks are tooo long when u drop it and the control arms come up more. i wanted to shorten the endlinks, but i just took the swaybar off and waited till i got my 18s to put it back on. no rubbing with the 18s. you won't appreciate what that stock swaybar does until u ride around with it off for a while then put it back on!! i felt like i had the hotchkis kit!!

Ok Dillegm, here's the scoop. I changed my front bags out to slam specialties r62 bags. The phoenix bags showed no problems but took over 140 psi to get the v8 to stock ride height. I just wanted more lift but with your v6 it looks like your in the clear. I found out the compression fittings I was using wasn't D.O.T. approved so I ordered some new ones but they haven't arrived yet. You have to shorten the endlinks up front cause they will rub and I cut the bumpstop and contact plate completely off. With 2" drop spindles and the bags my crossmember lays and my crossover y-pipe to my headers. The tie rods are about an 1/8 inch from rubbing on the frame and the 16's are about 1/8 inch from rubbing the top of the fender. (No Inner Fender.) I don't know what ratio's will change with the 20's. I'm pretty sure it won't lay anymore cause they are about 1 to 2 inches taller. The Phoenix bags out back get monster lift. I can easily achieve over a foot. Be careful with your notches cause I ended up bending my frame a little. It had to have happened before I welded cause I welded in two sides of the notch before cutting out the frame. I had the jack stands all the way at the rear of the tuck behind were I was cutting and I think then I jacked it up in the rear it bent. I think I would have been better off jacking on the frame pad father up in front of the axle. Oh yeah, I got as much lift as I did in the rear cause I located the bags in front of the axle. Of course this required relocating my gas tank to the bed. Good Luck and hopefully I can get some pics up.

Right now (without spindles) i'm hitting the inner fender bad. I'll have to cut it out of there. What size phoenix did you say you had up front at first? 2400's? I have 2500's. I think I can even fit 2600's in there if I want. So, you did the one leaf setup in back? I'm gonna go with a 4-link, just to be safe. and because I like how everything is together. How much did those new bags cost you?
Did you get a fuel cell? I have seen them advertised pretty cheap. I was thinking of going the same route.
Well, just have to order everything now, I think I'll get everything from suicidedoors.com.

No, I had 2500's up front and they will not give you the lift you want with a v8 block. But its not just the phoenix....the firestones won't either. The 2600's i'm pretty sure won't fit cause of the brake line and swaybar. The slam specialties bag is actually smaller in diameter than the 2500's bags (6 inch to 6.2 for phoenix and firestone) and has 3 more inches of stroke and twice the burst pressure. I went with a monoleaf and I'll have to wait on the custom fuel cell.....slam specialties bags take a chunk out of your payday check. I just got the stock tank strapped to the bed, nasty but effective for now. Plan on extendeding your fuel pump wires, sender wires, fuel line and return. The fuel line looks like nylon air hose but I went to the AutoZone and got a repair kit specifically for it to be safe.

Jeremy, do u mind if I ask where u got the slam specialties bags and more importantly how much u paid? cuz i think i'm gonna start saving up for bags, and buy things piece by piece, so i don't spend the $$ on other things(like the clear headlights!!) But, i know these bags r expensive, but i also know they kick ass for the reasons u just said. but i've never seen where to buy em. Thanx alot and let us know how those bags work out for u. They should be better, cuz (& i'm sure you've read this) they're supposed to not balloon out so much, so they go up easier. good luck & thx again.

The two best prices I could find was at fbi mini and a to z motorsports. They were 89.99 a piece and thats for regular strenght with no hopping. They are rated to daily take 180 psi with no problems and like a 600psi burst. They had two more versions like extra and super strength they said your frame and wheels would bend before the bag gave way but they had insane numbers like 300psi riding pressure and over 800psi burst. They were like 129 and 159 a piece. I only looked for a hour and then gave up and ordered them from a to z motorsports. You might be able to find some kind of deal on them but being in my position I couldn't wait. I know air lift has a deal right now where you buy a chrome viar 100%duty cyle compressor and get a 8 port 5 gallon air tank for free.

Jeremy, How is the handling with the mono-leaf setup? Does it seem sloppy in the rear-end? Any ride problems? If you aren't having a problem with it, I might give it a try, as suicidedoors.com (Jason) isn't gonna offer that kick-ass 4-link until mid-summer.
Thanks

I rode down around the block for like 5-10 minutes and found out it was leaking down bad. Got back, broke it down and ordered new dot hose and them slam bags and my vlair compressor and free tank. But back to that 10 minute drive, so I aired it up at the house with the compressor / the front to 110psi and the rear to 70psi and took off....the front felt like it drove better than when I had it lowered with lowering springs (no shocks now) but I had way to much air in the back and bounced over bumps like it was riding on the bumpstops. I really couldn't give you an honest answer till my new front bags get here and I put it all back together. I think my back is going to ride around 40-50 and be just right and I'm going to have to experiment with the ss bags. I do know I won't get anymore than 145 to them cause of my pressure switch. But I think 145 with them bags is going to be some insane 4x4 mud riding lift. Oh yeah I don't know if I mentioned it before but if you don't relocate your shocks and you lay frame with a monster notch your shocks might rub on the crossmember they are mounted on. It depends on how short your lowered shock it and how big the body is on it. Mine were nitro slammers ordered to go with a 7 inch drop and now i'm probably dropped like around 10 layed out and I had to notch about an inch out. I'll keep you updated.
