Subject: 3" coils?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 99 sport RC and I want to drop front with coils I'm thinking I wont be satisfied with 2" so im thinking 3" .will 3" cause alignment probs?
also is there a difference in spring rates from 2 to 3" I was thinking of going with hotchkis but if i go 3" should I try a "softer" company ? It's an everyday driver.
I like tight , but not a lumber wagon.

P.S. thanks everyone for the great site very informative .

3" coils tend to ride really rough even bottom out even with drop shocks. I would suggest using control arms to drop it or spindles if they make them.
hope this helps

I didn't really want to spend $350 for A-arms . could I retain my turning radius with Western arms?
I think would go with them if I went that way.

I had 3" coils on mine and it does bottom out quite a bit on rough roads. Dillegm knows his stuff, control arms and spindles work better cause they still leave suspension travel. I did spindles first (2") and it rode like a dream so I got greedy decided on 3" drop coils and it brought my bump stops way down to the point where they almost touched the contact plates. You might like it but just a bit rough for me.

Wow! I want to get 3" coils for my R/T! That should give me a 2.5" drop for the front. I had 3" control arms on my R/T and i lost all my turning! I dont reccomend getting new control arms! Mine bottomed out all the time and my tires rubbed on every bump i hit! I have to admit though, the ride was better than the factory. It kinda leaned though on turns.

So does anyone here think a drop with 3" coils and 3" leafs/1" blocks will bottom out and my tires rub? I'm 100% sure that my tires wont rub with 2" control arms (2" drop) and i'm 100% sure they will rub with 3" control (3" drop)......will they rub at 2.5"????? any help would be great!!

Thanks,

-Matt
