Subject: conecting 2 amps

Message:
I have a MTX 4225D powering 2 10" MTX subs. my friend just wrecked his car so he's giving me his subs and amp. he had a lightning audio amp with 2 MB Quart 10" subs. We hooked up everything, I have an output on my amp so I ran RC cables from my ouotput to his input, ran the remote wire from his hook up to mine, grounded his amp, and ran the power cable from his amp to my battery (my amp was already hooked up to battery and reciever andeverything) it was working fine for one night, but the next day, his amp kept turning off, id shut off the truck for 5 minutes and then it would turn on again, and then off again. its in an open area so i dont think its over heating, he never had a problem with it over heating... any sugestions??

sounds like the amp is shutting down on its own, due to a faulty on off switch(remote on) or the safety overheat switch is bad.

go and double check your ground, make sure it really good.

so do you have 2 power wires going to your batt? you might want to run 1. then to a split and fuse, then to each amp.

did you use distribution blocks? try runnin 4 gauge to a distribution block and splice it out to 8 runnin to your amps. you need to do the same thing for ground.
