Mods report on my 03 4.7 QC, 4WD, 5 spd, 3.92LS
Have done the 180 stat, removed clutch fan, 3923 plugs, temporary home brew air intake w/ a 9" K&N cone I had laying about placed in front corner behind headlight (flap removed), IAT placed in intake tube. Good return for under 40 bucks and under 4 hours spent! So far, biggest seat o' pants dyno result is the clutch fan removal (bottom end and spin-up improvement), followed by the intake. I put on hearing protection for the first run w/ the K&N, to keep my ears out of the equation, and could feel a definite improvement under heavy throttle - not tremendous, but notable.
Today's projects are the TPS adjustment and TB smoothing; HO cams and intake will be next week, followed by COTS cold air intake when I can make up my mind (nitroussteve, you listening?), then determination for a catback configuration.
And I gotta say - 40 years old, this is my first NEW truck - love driving this rig, and wrenching so far has been a joy (except for those stupid panel plugs holding the lower shield under the front end!)
