It was older, probly a 96,97 but yeah we had the light to ourselves and up ahead the lanes merged into one so rather than stay behind me he rolled around to my right. I looked at him but he was dead stone cold staring straight ahead so I was like sh*t man ... he's going to eat me up. I've NEVER raced anyone with my truck, I mean I've only had it for 3 months! So I was thinking .. dam, why couldn't this be some lame ricer in a kia or civic, I mean a cobra.. this can't be good. Anyway we pulled off and he got a slight jump on me, just enough so I could see his japanese text sticker worth 20 hp but I was happy that I was just sticking with him. Then I crepped by him! I could tell he was pissed because I looked in my review and he clapped his hands a few times then flicked me off. I am still all tingly and butterflies in my stomach heh. I have a 00' R/T cc with fastman TB, gibson cat-back, jba wires, and an airaid intake.
His car must have been bone stock because he SHOULD have beat me right?

Nice win. Especially when you got to see him flip you off. Thats gold.
My girlfriend has a 97 Cobra (stock) and I have an R/T with alot of goodies. We are even til about 35 mph and then she pulls away. The Cobras are fast if you rev the $hit out of em.
Maybe he missed a shift or spun the tires because I think the Cobra shoulda taken you.
Good job. Feels good , doesnt it ?

Yeah, he probably didn't know how to drive.. I've gone against a few-- Though the newer GTs are as fast as the older Cobras.. both will give me a good run-- and get me on the big end due to manual trans and lighter weight...
BUT-- when I hit the bottle-- uh.. Bub-bye....
Gotta start putting mustang logos and lighting logos on my driver's door now... LOL

yeah he didn't break loose or anything, I heard few chirps but nothign major at all. I'm thinking it was stock and he doesn't know what he's doing. I had a 94' GT with a few mods and I'm pretty sure it was faster than my R/T but I may just be imagining it. Hell yeah it feels good regardless : o )

I actually went up against a Cobra (my guess is a 32 valve) during a test and tune night. I was actually suprized that I kept it close until the 1/8th mile. But then he pulled away while I fell off.

The year model makes a big difference with the cobra. 94-95 5.0 cobras- 240hp
96-98 DOHC 4.6 - 300hp
99+ - 320hp, 03-390hp
I'm not trying to rain on your parade but I'll bet that cobra was either a 94 or 95. I have also seen gt's and even 6 bangers with cobra emblems. But I could believe an R/T beating a 94-95 even with a decent driver in the cobra.

I dunno what it is about cobras but they have that intimadtion factor that's hard to beat...seeing a dude in a cobra there's no telling what he may have under the hood but here in Dallas its usually some dorky lookin guy that got one just to look cool or its some high school kid w/ his hat turned around backwards and is usually pretty damn cocky. I'm not scared of em now but back before I had my heads and cam work everytime I got up beside one I knew I didn't stand a chance.
I beat a GT back when I first got my truck and had a TB, M-1 & cold air but everyone almost threw me off the site sayin I was lying and making every excuse why the GT shoulda won...its funny how people on here that hate mustangs so much would try and think up every reason that an R/T wouldn't be able to hang w/ the stang guys.
But I guess you really have to be there to believe it.

yeah they do have that intimidation factor, tricky your probly' right.. it had that body style but it was in great shape so I tagged it as a little newer. Yeah the dude was some lamer, he was about 35 or so trying to be cool. I guess the only good thing is I know he's been thinking about my truck this entire day and how he should maybe go ahead and trade his car in on a new cobra cause the older ones cant hang anymore.

Always gotta remember, just cause the stats say one car should beat another, you can never dismiss the factor of driver skill.
Now that the praise is over. We should be getting distressed Cobra owner posts and posts from people that are going to tell us that you would have lost to a real driver.

yeah but then you have the luxery sleepers out there, I dig when they get all aggresive and such. Now that I think about it, I've seen more infinity/bmw/audi drivers hauling a** than I have cobras/gts/even rice burners... actually I have yet to see a ricer moving fast, they kind of just roll around slowly so people can hear them but hardly ever try you, unless of course they have the super street yellow decal.

Believe it or not, I almost ran up against a new VW stationwagon with a huge fart can last night. Bonehead was revving his engine like he wanted to go at a light....man that was funny. Anyway, I had my 3year old with me and just let him go although I doubt it would've taken much past 1st gear. What I wanna know is....what do you call it for it is not from the west Pacific?

i know this kid whose botu 19 with a 99 cobra and i dont care if they are fast or cool or whatever his car sucks . he has intake and exhaust stuff done to it . but he cant drive for crap so it doesnt matter . to make up for his lack of driving skill he put NOS on it . and now its fast but hes still a dumb cocky high skool kid who dont know what hes doin . way to go on the win to
