The B&G Chrysler can flash your PCM for about that much. A 50 or 52mm throttle body would be good, 4.56 gears could be bought and installed for about that. When you say exhaust do you mean headers or just a cat back? If no headers then the Positive Performance (aka Mopar Performance) headers for a 2000 would be good. The M1 intake can be bought for less then that if you install it yourself, same goes for 1.7 rockers. Persoanlly I get that B&G flash out of the way, then as you add the other modes you will reap maximum gain.

Cam! $300.00 for a new cam and the rest for gaskets, fluids, and double roller timing chain.

Good for 30-40hp at the crank.

I'd do the cam at a later date and save up for new R/T heads and do it all at the same time...I don't think he'd see the full potential of the cam till he got all the other parts to compliment it.

I'd get the M-1, it lets you rev to a higher rpm....lost many a race w/ the beer keg running outta breath at 4000rpms.

A buddy of mine is running w/ heads, cam, nitrous w/ the stock 48mm throttle body and still pushing 315rwhp all motor. So I'd wait for the TB at a later date.

I still think the cam is the weakest link in the 5.9L motor, why? Because of emissions reasons. Sure the Stock intake was designed for towing, but it has more than 4000 rpms power band, but no more than 5000rpms. Unlike the M1 which will supply power above 5k, but hinder some power under 2500-3000k. If the beer keg couldn't supply power above 4k why would Dodge say peak HP for the 5.9L is 250hp@4400? Have you looked at the 3.9L which has the same stock intake but cut two cylinder banks off. It's rated peak is 175@4800rpms! While both the V8 and V6 torque peak at 3200rpms. That should clearly show that the beer keg is not total crap. It's the cam that's crap! Get the M1 if you want your RPM band moved up 1000rpms or the M1 4bbl and move it up another 1000rpms.

Anybody know where peak TRQ is on the kegger and where is it on the M1 ?

I noticed a sweet spot with the kegger @ 3200-3800rpm.

The M1 doesnt have that. Its more smoothed out.

i think im gonna go with the M1, but, are there any other "cheap" mods i can do while i have the intake out? like roller rockers or something? anything at all? i just want to make sure i didnt do this whole job then regret not adding something while i had it open. and i think i would need other components like heads and pcm to compliment a better cam. and to the comment about me running nitrous, what are you talking about? im running basically stock. thanks.

U don't have to take the valve covers off to do the M-1 so roller rockers wouldn't be a convient thing to do just cuz you have your intake off. Not really any cheap mods to do while the intake is off that I can think of.

Get that x-large turtle to put in there too. If you need to drill a spot in the bottom of the M1 it's better to do while it's not on the motor, no filings end up inside the motor that way. Still should leave $100 if you do it yourself.

The cam really is the brain of any motor, it will do more to control the powerband then anything else. It is also dirt cheap if you re-use the old lifters, just difficult to install.

Do you see how this mod stuff gets addicting? $500 here, and you really want to spend $500 more there...
