Water, from the front grill? If you remove the air flap from beside the radiator? Potentially, but no-one seems to have a problem with it.

Water from the wheel? As in the fender well? Have you looked in there? There is a fender.

Many people out there are running the set-up your talking about; no one complains about any water or anything getting up in there. I have my filter right out in the open and I've never had a problem with water or mud. In heavy mudding, some may get on the filter, but if its doing its job you don't have to worry about it getting into your engine. If you look at mine, the filter is situated well over the fender (slightly differnt position that the actual kit), so theres really nothing to worry about.

Don't worry!! I got the inverted cone K&N filter and reposition the tranny PCM and took out the flap next to radiator so there is a pretty big gap that allows my baby to breath pure fresh air. As per the water, I never get water from under the vehicle into the engine compartment and that is because I like to run over the puddles of water when it rains because it cleans the undercarriage pretty well. As per the water coming from the grill, I put a "bug mesh" behind the grill so the drops of water break and becomes water myst by the time it reaches the filter;the same applies to bugs.

Water is the main reason these types of air filters are treated with oil. The oil repells the water making it highly unlikely that your engine will gulp large amounts of water. A little water is fine, a little water in the form of a mist is great (i.e. water injectors from days of old). The next time you clean your K&N filter, spray a paper towel with the filter oil, then after it dries spray it ligthly with water and you'll see the water just beads up and rolls off.

Craig, I don't think K&N makes a kit for the 2.5L. From from the looks of the engine, it shouldn't be too hard to make one yourself and put a K&N filter on it. You'll get basically the same result.
