I just got a Ravin 33 Series put on with the pipe exiting before the rear wheel. I was just wondering if you guys thought it was a bit low? The picture is actually kind of decieving, it's not quite as low as the picture makes it out to be, but I just thought it would look a little sleeker if it were up closer to the body. If anyone else has this setup, what did you do to get it up snug with the body? I (or Midas) had to go under the mounts for the leaf springs, so there wasn't much they could do. Perhaps they could make the pipe turn before the mount and it would be up higher. Anyway, all you comments are welcome. Oh, and my 4.7 growls beautifully now. Not loud, but quite deep and throaty. My old '99 3.9 was louder with a Gibson straight-through, though not nearly as deep.

In case the picture doesn't show up (Webshots is kind of iffy), here's the link.

I think it is quite low. I really like that style exit (in front of rear tire). I had it on my old Explorer. Anyways I think you are kind of limited considering the leaf spring location. you could bend it up at the end. Any off-roading in your future? Might want to keep an eye on it when going over things.

It is quite low. Like I said, the pic makes it out worse than it is. Tomorrow I'm going to go take some clearer pics and I'll measure how far it is from the body. I've seen a few others with this style exhaust and their pipes have been up quite high. I'm guessing they swept the exhaust back from the muffler (thereby bypassing the spring mounts), rather than run the pipe straight away from the muffler then turn it out like I did.

Your best bet is to take it back to Midas, I used to work for Midas here in Delaware, and they should fix it. Sometimes you just need someone to do the job with a better know how of exhaust bending. In fact from the looks of your picture, I would say you've got plenty of room to play with. It depends on a couple things. First of all how sturdy is the system, in other words, does it shake a whole lot? If not, then I would say that you could just turn the tail up a little bit, they actually have it pointed down. From the picture I'd say you've got at least 3-4 inches to work with. If it is a sturdy system then you don't have to worry about it hitting the leaf. Plus it's not like you'll have to worry about the leaf going down to hit the pipe. As a rule of thumb, I used to measure the width of your first two fingers together, that's how much space should be between your tail, and what ever is closest to it, be it the body, or the leaf. Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

I have the same style accept I had the local muffler guy put duals with square tips. Mine come out before the leaf spring mount so every thing fits nice and snug. The only problem I had is at first the tips were too close to the mount and it rattled when I hit a big bump. I have a R/T so I know you will have plenty of space if you do it like this.

Shortly after I got my R/T I took her to my local Midas to inquire about running fake Duals out the back....those pukes wanted 450 to do it. Needless to say, I told them to shove it up their Arse. Must've thought they saw me comin but soon saw me goin...lol. Every time I see ol George Foreman on the tube now pushin Midas...my stomach turns.

Naturally I have re-thought the whole exhaust thing since then and have come to the conclusion that I will eventually run duals(Stacks) but do so through the bed directly behind the cab like the old Lil Red Express.

Good luck with the fitting.
