Subject: JBA Headers VS V8 Throttle Body
IP: Logged

Message:
The question I have is what will give me a better performance increase? The JBA headers or the V8 Throttle body (48mm). The current mods I have on my truck are: Kenny Bell cold air intake, High flow cat, 3inch Vortec cat back exhaust, Jet stage 2 module and 3.91 gears. Also for you guys with the headers and/or throttle body change did you notice any change with them?

Thanks for your help

Initially, you'd probably notice more performance out of the V8 throttle body. But, if you open up the intake side, you should also open up the exhaust side somewhat. You've already got an exhaust system on your truck, it looks like, although I've heard that the 2.5" pipes are better for a V6 than the 3". I'd doubt that headers would give you much of a noticeable increase.

Having said that, I installed a set of JBA ceramic headers on my V6 as one of my first mods. I have a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler on it, stock pipes. I've noticed little or no difference in performance over stock, but, I didn't just put the headers on for performance. I wanted to get rid of the cast iron manifolds before they started to break mounting studs off in the heads, as so many people have reported on this board. Plus, they look so much better than those ugly cast iron manifolds. But, I also have an F&B TB, Intense intake and a set of Crower 1.7 rockers that I'm going to be installing very soon, which should wake my truck up some. So...I'd actually do both if you can swing it, just do the TB first.
