The 4.7L has a -plastic- intake. Wierd huh?

It's most likely coolant (not antifreeze but cutting fluid) to keep the plastic from melting during cutting.

a bit of cutting oil, but that's it.

and yep .. its plastic. You can see the little plastic shards if you look real close

Why did you cut it in half....when I changed out to the ho intake I just looked down thru the front sensor hole and you could see what the differences are. Damn, give some people a power tool and...damn.

They made these things plastic because since the they are fuel injected there was no need for a water jacket to maintain a proper temp, thusly make it out of something inexpensive yet insulated, so plastic....and plastic is easier to cut in half.LOL.
