I've been lurking around this board for months, reading ppl's opinions about which model to buy. I signed on the dotted line on Saturday. I can't wait until it gets here.

LURKER!

Excellent choice. Is it a 4wd or 2wd? Good decision on the colour too, the only thing I wish different on mine was that it's Graphite.

Excellent! I'll be ordering a new Dak probably late next spring. What made you go for the QC? I'm looking at that but I really do not like the idea of having a 5 foot bed. Plus is it really worth it for $2000 more? I don't have a family and don't plan on having kids for another 7-10 years, so I don't really see much benefit for me right now.
With the graphite color job, are you going with the two tone? I had my choices narrowed down to either straight graphite or patriot blue w/ two tone, and the dealer had them sitting side by side on the lot. The straight graphite looks a crapload better, IMHO.
Kevin, how much delay are they saying from the date you ordered to the delivery date? Good things to know for when it's my turn!
Also, anybody know when they're going to release details on the 2004 dakota?
And when does the factory stop producing the 2003s? In other words, when do you have to custom order from the factory by to still get a 2003 if the 2004 style ends up ugly?

It's a 2wd. Solid Graphite

I went with the QC because it gives me all the benefits of sedan (seating room) and it still looks like a truck. The SuperCrew just looks wrong, and I didn't want an SUV with the back roof cut off.

as for the short box, I don't anticipate ever having to haul sheets of plywood so no big deal.

Nice to see I'm not the only one out here salivating over the 2003s. Like GreyDak, I'm opting for the extended cab model, also in graphite. I'm gonna load this one up for bear, plan on keeping it well past the 7/70000 PT warranty, so I'm gonna get some xtra stuff I probably don't need, but what the hey? Besides after driving a Ford Ranger for the last 10 years I'm looking for something a tad larger & more power.
Any one know when the cutoff is for ordering these beasts? I'm hoping to get mine ordered end of January or middle February, but I'm not wanting to let too much time lapse so I don't have to take one off the dealer floor.
Here's my list:
4.7 V8, FT 4WD, 265/70's, 5 speed auto, AM-FM cassette w/CD Infinity system, 3.92 axle, limited slip, HD Service group, 4 wheel antilock, trailer tow group, security system, skid plate option, power heated foldaway mirrors, bedliner, block heater, bodyside moulding, rear window defroster.
Did I miss anything? Suggestions? Comments?
Any & all help & constructive criticism welcome.

Cutoff?? Do you mean when the 7/70,000 deal stops? The deal should stop when we are declared out of recession. When interest rates start climbing again, then it should start to disappear.

Then again, all these new cars people are buying, it's really going to fuk the new car market afterwards. Hah, maybe there will be even better deals when interest rates are back up to more inflated levels. Damn would that crack me up.

I have the QC and have hauled plywood with it. 5,6 or 7 foot bed you would still have the tailgate down.

So the turn around is about a month on a special order? Not too bad. I'm planning on placing my order within the next month. I can't wait. 4x4, CC, 4.7, 5-speed. Anything I should stay away from on the option list. Anything I shouldn't leave off?

3.92s freakin' rule

The 35 bucks or whatever it is you pay for the block heater is a good deal and saves you time, so I would invest in that depending on where you live.

A lot of people don't like the infinity upgrade sound system.

Can't think of anything else.

Thanks xplikt. I've been debating the 3.92's. The whole acceleration vs mileage thing. Good to know about the Infinity upgrade. I figure I can put something together that would sound better anyway. And seeing as I'm down here in VA I'll probaly pass on the block heater.

I appreciate the advice.

I just picked up a 2003 3.9L Quad Cab several weeks ago and love it. I do alot of commuting, so the 3.9 works out fine. I got the Atlantic Blue Pearl Coat. So far I have removed the tailgate logos and installed the Street Scene grill inserts and valance inserts. Next on the list is probally going to be the Hotchkis drop, Altezza tails, roll pan, and hard bed cover. I drove a lowered Ranger for awhile, and already love the Dodge alot more!
