What kind of problems did you have with your old tranny? I also have a 01 Dak with 49000 miles. I have noticed that the shifting from 3rd is lagging at times. Any tips and ideas would be appreciated.

My tranny would miss under accellerations, then it got worse, it would even pop out on downshifts from 4-3, etc. If you drove it like a granny ALL the time, it was OK. But you couldn't use it for even normal driving w/o it missing. Dealer guy drove it, no prob, new 5 spd! I had about 27,500 at this time.

There is a TSB for 1-2 I believe. I felt lucky.

manual or auto? nice question.

As I've posted, the Dak seems to have 4 forward gears in the auto, with an alternate 2nd when it sometimes downshifts. So there are 5 gears, with 4 of them being used if you go full throttle from a stop.

Usually, when you post 5spd, it certianly means a manual. I want to be in the gear I choose, not what an electric auto tranny decides.

NOw I'm sure the auto is nice, really, just my personal preference, the 5spd, manual that is.
