Message: What kind of problems did you have with your old tranny? I also have a 01 Dak with 49000 miles. I have noticed that the shifting from 3rd is lagging at times. Any tips and ideas would be appreciated.

Message: My tranny would miss under accellerations, then it got worse, it would even pop out on downshifts from 4-3, etc. If you drove it like a granny ALL the time, it was OK. But you couldn't use it for even normal driving w/o it missing. Dealer guy drove it, no prob, new 5 spd! I had about 27,500 at this time.
There is a TSB for 1-2 I believe. I felt lucky.

Message: manual or auto? nice question.
As I've posted, the Dak seems to have 4 forward gears in the auto, with an alternate 2nd when it sometimes downshifts. So there are 5 gears, with 4 of them being used if you go full throttle from a stop.
Usually, when you post 5spd, it certianly means a manual. I want to be in the gear I choose, not what an electric auto tranny decides.
NOw I'm sure the auto is nice, really, just my personal preference, the 5spd, manual that is.
