alrighty.. my speedo, cruise went out and the brake/ABS came on. i pulled a P0500 off the dash and looked it up. "No vehicle speed sensor signal detected during road load conditions" speed sensor is outta wack.. but which freaking speed sensor?!? the FSM really doesn't help much with troubleshooting. it'd be nice to have troubleshooting flowcharts like i have for my electronics

I believe it would be the on the trans. The one on your rearend is only the secondary for powertrain and won't trip a "P"(powertrain) code when it goes bad. If the one on your rearend was bad, you would still have your speedo and cruise.

My 01' has already succumb to the crappy Mopar anti-lock brake quality. I had to replace the rearend (anti-lock brake)speed sensor at 7K miles. It didn't register a DTC on the PCM, but did on the CAB (controller anti-lock brake). The only way I know to pull the codes from it is to use a DRB to plug into it.

I had a similar problem 200 miles after I got my truck. Dealer fixed it under warranty. Apparantly there was a bad harness or connection somewhere (Maybe in the drivers side kick panel). I was also having problems with the tach. Later on the oil light came on, all due to the bad connection.

Rear speed sensor-- Contact Carl Kessel at Worthington Dodge- parts (Carlsbad, CA.)... Tell him Sam referred you (he'll give you the Mopar Club San Diego discount). It isn't very expensive... less than $100.00 from what I remember.
