I recently upgraded to a 2003 QC from a 2002 CC. I am extremely dissapponted in the 2003 radio. It is a stock CD with 4 speakers. Not that my 2002 sounded that great, but the reception in the 2002 was excellent. In fact, far better than any mid-range aftermarket I have heard recently.

I've noticed a severe reception problem, both AM and FM. Fadding in and out, lots of noise and cross-radio stations. I tried a new 2003 radio, and test drove several 2003s. They all seem to have the same problem: very poor, and inconsistent reception.

Can anyone comment on this?

Please just don't tell me I was spoiled by the 2002 system...UUUGGGGGH. I guess my goal is to explain to the dealer if it may be a problem in the electrical system or in the radio itself. Well, I think I've coaxed them to swapping the 2003 for the 2002 CD, but only if the stupid harnesses match up.

The 2002 Radio should work in the 2003 MY. There has been no major changes with these radios for a few years. See if the dealer will give you a deal on the AM/FM/CD/CASS radio. If they do ask for the RBU model. The company that makes them is better than most. Not that I am bias. :-)

Not implying that you are stupid, but did you notice if the antennea was properly secured or attached at all? Because I know dealers around here do not install them until after the vehicle was purchased. From what I gather above you noticed this from a test drive, correct? If you already do own the truck, did they upgrade your radio and perhaps forgot to plug in the antennea. Or do you have any type of equipment installed that may be causing interferance.

Hope this may help to solve the problem.

Michael

Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.

Got H.O. ?
