Subject: Grease Fittings/ Chilton Manual

I got a question..
In my manual for my 99 4x2 Dakota with the 5.2 engine, it mentions that I should grease the steering linkage and the lower ball joints at prescribed intervals. This weekend I was planning on doing just that but I couldn't, for the life of me, find any fittings for the grease. I'm I going blind or just getting dumb?? And does anyone know if there are service manuals available online for my 99 Dakota?

Thanks

I dont think there are any grease fittings. They are all "sealed for life" -which kinda sucks. I cant find one single grease fitting on my 2000 either. None on the ball joints or u-joints. I guess we will have to wait until the joints wear out and then replace them. One word - SUCKS! Maybe Chryslers crappy ball joints would last longer if they were greaseable.

that does suck!!!its no wonder why there is so many problems with the ball joints!on my 98 everything has grease fittings and at 60,000 no problems at all.i can grease em till the cows come home. what would even make them think you can even have greaseless fittings these are trucks not mercedes benzs!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, my 98 is covered in grease fittings.
3 for the steering linkage arms.
1 under each big lower ball joint.
and even one on the drive shaft.
and if I remember correctly the tie rod ends each have one.
My upper joint is tiny and non greasable though.
Personally I wouldn't worry about it. I have a 94 car with sealed joints that's still running just fine.

It seems like the 00 year Dakota has sealed fittings while the 98 year requires periodic greasings. How about the 99s? My manual says the 4x2s require grease but I believe the fittings are sealed which means the manual is in error. Anybody able to confirnm this?

Thanks

My 2008 Dodge Dakota V6 seems to have no
lubrication points or grease fittings either.
